Celebrated Crimes, Vol. 8: Part 2: Vaninka by Alexandre Dumas (1802 - 1870). Translated by George Burnham Ives (1856 - 1930)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/celebrated-crimes-vol-8-part-2-vaninka-by-alexandre-dumas/

The story of Vaninka, generally considered the most fictionalized of Dumas’ Celebrated Crimes, occurs during the short and eccentric rule of Emperor Paul I of Russia. Vaninka is a general’s daughter whose love for one of her father’s officers leads to tragic death, savage crimes and perversions of justice. (jvanstan)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2760
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi. Could you be a bit more specific as to where this story is found in Gutenberg? the link is to the Complete Crimes. Thanks.

Hi all,

I've finally recorded drafts for this Celebrated Crime :) Sorry for the long delay... house renovations still ongoing :/

Regarding a better link to the specific story in Gutenberg... there is no direct link. All the Celebrated Crimes are in one file (the one provided).

Onto the LAST ONE!! Wow, I can't believe I'm on the edge of completing this project :9:

Hope all's well,
John

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that we won't need a 5th section. So, it can be deleted :p

Thanks!

Onto the last story for this series!

Hope all’s well,
