Adrienne Lecouvreur, by Ernest Legouvé (1764 - 1812) and Eugene Scribe (1807 - 1903), translated by H. Herman (1832 - 1894)
This drama was written in 1848 for the great French tragedienne, Rachel, by Eugene Scribe and his writing partner, Ernest Legouve. Scribe is remembered for devising the compositional technique now known as the “well-made play” that dominated play-writing for most of the 19th century. This plot is loosely based on events in the life of the actress, Adrienne Lecouvreur of the Comédie-Française and the tragic outcome of her love affair with Maurice, comte de Saxe

Can I play Abbé de Chazeuil please?

I have seen the opera version of this play by Francesco Cilea. The libretto for it is in Italian so not by Scribe but he was famous for his French opera libretti which were used by many composers including Meyerbeer, Verdi and Rossini.

May I play Michonnet?
For what it's worth (and that's very little) regarding pronunciations, I would have pronounced Quinault ('ka-no) as in Quinze ('kanz)
But I'll stick to the guide.

Hmmm.... I think you're right on Quinault. I'll change the guide.

Yes -- "Adrienne Lecouvreur" is more well-known as an opera than as a play.

Todd -- The second author is Ernest Legouve (1807-1903) not Gabriel Legouve.
