Thank you, Sonia! That scene description is hilarious! I am happy if my bit works out and figured if it is more cringe-worthy than funny at least it is shortKitty wrote: ↑August 8th, 2021, 6:18 am now this is definitely a favourite scene among the old London drinking revellers who attended the play back in the days. Excellently done, complete with fitting cockney accent. Pity she didn't have a bigger role.
PL ok !
thank you for this hilarious performance, Scott.

showing up just to give a tirade of bragging about himself and then exiting again because nobody is there to humour him Poor Bremo. It's not easy to be wild these days.alanmapstone wrote: ↑August 9th, 2021, 2:20 amBremo act 2

For the stage directions, you need to read everything that is not read by the actors. So each time you see "closes door" or "drinks wine" or "exit left", you would need to read. Often it's written in italics or between brackets, but not always, so finding all the directions can be tricky business.
There is a special rule that concerns reading the characters' names. It's quite easy to remember:
1) if the stage direction appears at the beginning of the speech, you include the character's name.
Example:
John (sitting down on the couch): "I feel a headache coming on."
you would read everything I underlined now, including the name.
2) if the stage direction is in the middle or at the end of the speech, you do not repeat the name, because it's already clear who is speaking.
Example:
John: "I feel a headache coming on." (sits down on the couch) "I think I need a rest." (dozes off)
both times, no name included, only the underlined parts would be read.
If in doubt, record it.
Please leave at least 4-5 seconds between each chunk. So each time the narration is interrupted by a character speech, you leave ample space. It makes copy/pasting easier for our editor (me).
Also - record a voice credit for yourself: "Stage directions, read by XXXX"
Thanks, Todd

hmm I fear despite being called "wilde", poor Bremo is more the comic relief of this play. But yes, the things you say in the beginning are is this guy a cannibal or what !!! Probably one of those tools of doom that Envy mentioned she would throw in the path of the heroes.alanmapstone wrote: ↑August 12th, 2021, 2:14 amBremo act 3

Enjoy it while it lasts....I already know the inevitable ending of Bremo
Thanks, and totally PL ok
oh btw the play is called MUCedorus, not MERcedorus doesn't matter for the part files, but in case you have to say the name later on, I thought I'd better mention it.

Here are the stage directions for the last three acts

I have a couple of questions regarding Act 1
Who reads the prologue?
Should I read the complete title "A most pleasant comedy of Mucedorus the king's son of Valentia, and Amadine, the king's daughter of Arragon" at any point in the recording?
Do we record the induction, prologue, and Dramatis personae in a separate file? In which case how should I preface it? like instead of "Act # of Mucedorous, this is a librivox..." how should I start it with?
Sorry for all the questions, but this part has a very different structure than the rest!

thank you so much, for the very fast turn-around. It's always very helpful to have the stage directions right from the starttefavidal wrote: ↑August 13th, 2021, 12:49 am Here are the stage directions for the last three acts

Excellent reading and you basically recorded everything that was needed and also inserted the names correctly where it was needed with the directions at the beginning of the speech
I can mark Acts 3 and 4 already PL ok.
One small missed part in Act 5 however:
> at about 0:40: please insert: "Mucedorus, aside"
> since you have to reupload anyway, could I point out that there is a lot of background noise, so you could run one round of noise cleaning (do you use Audacity ?). For the other two acts you need not reupload, I will make a note for Todd to do that in the editing phase. But for the next two acts, maybe you want to consider it to get a cleaner sound.
Do you need a step-by-step ?
Now to your questions:
hmm, since it is not specifically mentioned which actor was doing the prologue, I guess Todd here wants the narrator to do this part as well. But let's wait for confirmation before you record anything.Who reads the prologue?
yes I would read it at the start of the play.Should I read the complete title "A most pleasant comedy of Mucedorus the king's son of Valentia, and Amadine, the king's daughter of Arragon" at any point in the recording?
1. So first say the intro disclaimer
2. then start with "A most pleasant comedy of Mucedorus the king's son of Valentia, and Amadine, the king's daughter of Arragon"
3. go on reading the prologue, like it is written in the text
4. then continue with saying "Dramatis personae" (--> I'll explain more about this part below !)
5. finally, say "Induction - enter comedy joyful with a garland of bays in her hand" and so on, all the stage directions that appear there
6. then go on saying "Act 1. Scene 1" and so on till the end
no the acts are not that long, so we can fit the prologue and cast of characters into act 1. Just like the Epilogue is part of Act 5.Do we record the induction, prologue, and Dramatis personae in a separate file? In which case how should I preface it? like instead of "Act # of Mucedorous, this is a librivox..." how should I start it with?
For the Dramatis personae, please read it as follows, always saying the whole description, if in doubt check the Magic Window, that's how Todd wants it read:
That's it. Yes act 1 is always the trickiest, so it was very good of you to start with the final acts first, to get a bit of practice with the easier parts.DRAMATIS PERSONAE. (you can leave out this part "Eight persons may easily play it." as it doesn't fit into our play structure where we have one voice per character)
