My apologies for butting in, but Doris is actually one of the Greek goddesses. She was the Greek goddess of the ocean, her name meaning "Bounty of the Sea" or something similar.JoannaHoyt wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 4:27 pm May I claim Doris?
(I am sure the names are all actually place- and period-authentic, but somehow having a Doris in there with Clytemnaestra, Iphigenia, Erpihyle, and Aegina feels incongruous, rather as though a cast list should include Dulcinea, Florimel, Araminta, and Jane...)

yes and to enhance on that, the word "doros" indeed is Greek and means "gift, present". It's been used in some popular names still, a good example being Theodore and Dorothea - both mean "a gift from God" (doros and theos being the roots of both names).GregGiordano wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 8:19 pmMy apologies for butting in, but Doris is actually one of the Greek goddesses. Thank you, Sonia! I had hope those Geek Mythology classes would one day come in handy. Your further explanation of the meaning of Doris helped me understand even more!Kitty wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 11:09 pmyes and to enhance on that, the word "doros" indeed is Greek and means "gift, present". You know, hardly a single day goes by without I find myself impressed by the knowledge of folks here at LV. Wonderful.
Thanks, Todd

And here is Doris, possibly not the best gift or friend Eriphyle could have had under the circumstances, offering shocked remarks and bad advice.
Act 2, duration 2:33 https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/iphigenia_doris_2.mp3
Act 4, duration 0:55 https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/iphigenia_doris_4.mp3
Back from a low-internet no-Librivox year in Georgia. Glad to be with you again.
wow she definitely has a jealousy-management problem ! This outburst in Act 4 was extremely dramatic, fantastic playactingdianahkennedy wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 2:57 pmMisunderstood orphaned lovelorn enslaved evil teen Eriphyle Acts 3 (1:15) & 4 (4:27), hopefully with correct slate this time.

All PL ok. Though careful with your volume, both acts are below our accepted minimum of 86 dB. Some parts are very loud and others nearly whispered. I will make a note in the MW for Todd to adjust, so you need not do anything for these files, but it would be good to stay a bit on the same level for future files.
Thank you
Sonia
yes but I think she had her best interests at heart. In any case, Doris is excellently acted out and all PL ok. I think these dialogues will sound perfect once assembled.JoannaHoyt wrote: ↑June 11th, 2021, 4:51 pmAnd here is Doris, possibly not the best gift or friend Eriphyle could have had under the circumstances, offering shocked remarks and bad advice.

My apologies about the volume! I’ll see what I can do to fix it in the future.Kitty wrote: ↑June 14th, 2021, 2:14 amwow she definitely has a jealousy-management problem ! woah, hold your horses ! Achilles really got worked up here in the end Carnage ripe for a Hollywood blockbuster would have ensued if Calchas had gone ahead with this sacrifice. Luckily Racine spared his audience this action on stage.alanmapstone wrote: ↑June 28th, 2021, 2:22 amAchilles act 5
