COMPLETE[PLAY]Iphigenia by Racine - thw
Ulysses awaits in the MW. Attend at your peril. Quack, quack!
Thanks, Todd

that would have been something. And my "vision" from "Advertise" was not Uncle Scrooge as Ulysses ! You already played Scrooge in that play, which is enough. Ulysses asks for a more wily zany performance. Probably more in the line of Indiana Jones...ToddHW wrote: ↑May 30th, 2021, 4:47 amSonia: I am confused about what kinda voice I should use to fulfill your vision (from "It Pays To Advertise") of Ulysses as a "bumbling spats-wearing duck with a monocle". Would I not have called for the building of a giant Fluffy Duck instead of a Wooden Horse?
I dread to find out how you portrayed him now
PL probably only tomorrow though. The weather is so great here right now that I may go out for a walk for a while.

thank you Greg, excellent performance till the last. You manage to get the inner conflict of the king out pretty well.
Act 3 is PL ok
A couple of small notes for Act 4:
> at 6:02: (p. 187) repeat can be cut once: "to force the Fates to grant their arms success
> at 6:31: (p. 188) "thou fain wouldst leave me but an empty name" – you say "thy fame"
thanks
Sonia
haha, not at all Scrooge here ! wow, what a change of voice, you dropped it to an unusal pitch here. It gives a totally different vibe and yes, absolutely fitting for Ulysses. Well done, I extremely enjoyed it. Pity that the Odyssee has never been dramatically rendered in a play, at least not as far as I know.
Both acts PL ok, thank you
Sonia
That was my crack of dawn early morning pre-tea or even water voice after a rather sleepless night. No Audacity effects utilized. Quack!
Hmmm, Odyssey as a play? [Starts to rummage....]
Ah. There was the one-act with the Cyclops a while back, but that's not enough perhaps... [rummaging continues offstage]
Thanks, Todd

I heard your surprise musical ending, is that from a known song or just a spur-of-the-moment outburst ? If this was a Broadway musical, I'm sure Eriphyle would have such a solo song at this point. Unfortunately here we have to stick to the script, but it made me grin (so don't cut it just yet, so that Todd may have a grin as well).dianahkennedy wrote: ↑June 1st, 2021, 1:34 pmMisunderstood lovelorn orphaned enslaved evil teen Eriphyle Act II (9:17):

Excellently portrayed, her anger and envy are extremely well highlighted in your performance. I'll mark it PL ok, but I have a note for the next act...
> for the voice credit, could you please always read the entire description, as mentioned in the MW, so we don't need to insert the narrator into your voice credit. Here: "Eriphyle, Daughter of Helen and Theseus, read by Diana Kennedy". You can include it into Act 3, so you don't have to reupload this file. I'll make a note for Todd in the MW
Thank you

No, the bit at the end was just me messing around at the end of a long recording... glad you got a kick out of it! Sorry for the voice credit mess up, will make sure to fix it when I record Act III. I guess it's a good thing I am submitting one act at a time.Kitty wrote: ↑June 2nd, 2021, 1:02 amI heard your surprise musical ending, is that from a known song or just a spur-of-the-moment outburst ? Great job, Alan, but you missed the final lines at the end, Achilles still speaks 6 lines to Clytemnestra on page 176, starting with "Madam I will do all I can to serve you" till "in vain the gods may have ordained her death"
Thanks
