Mithridates, by Jean Racine (1639 - 1699), translated by Robert Bruce Boswell (1864 - 1933)
Another tragedy by Racine, based on the historical character and career of Mithridates circa 63 BCE. Closing with sorrow and lamentation and promises of a "search for vengeance". (Summary by ToddHW)

May I also do something different and read the Stage Directions?
This play is the basis of a little known Mozart opera :)

Mitridate Re di Ponto, which he wrote when he was 14. :?
Rarely performed but I did see a film/TV version of it years ago.

Stage directions for act 1

I have never actually read stage directions before so I may need some guidance on what needs to be included :help:

well I think you already encountered our small synopsis on what is important in stage directions, and you did it perfectly well. Racine is a good way to practice stage directions, because there are not many  you inserted correctly the characters' names where they were needed

Only two things to correct:

> so far we included the "Introduction" text in each of the Racine plays, so could you read that part as well please and insert it right after the intro disclaimer and before the dramatis personae ?

> concerning the name of the title hero, unlike in the French original, here he is called Mithridates (with an 's' at the end) in English (Todd: I corrected your first post, which probably side-tracked Alan). Could you correct the name in the intro disclaimer and where it appears in the dramatis personae ?

The rest is fine, thanks for the fast turn-around :9:
