One Fool Makes Many, by Antonio de Solis (1610 - 1686), translated by Henry Richard Vassall Holland
"I will discuss this matter in an allegory: ... There was once upon a time a man, and he had a sister; and this said sister, she had a brother; and so this sister fell in love with another brother, and he had another sister; and one day what should she do, but take it into her head to run away with him? So then, after that, the brother, from whom the sister had been stolen, stole the sister of the thief. Now will you be pleased to tell us whether it would be best, in such a case, that each man should have his own again, or that each should keep what belonged to his neighbor?" (Summary by The Play)
This project is complete. Audio files can be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/one-fool-makes-many-by-antonio-de-solis/

You liked The Wonder! by Centlivre with its Spanish setting and intrigue? Here is an actual Spanish comedy (translated in 1807) with similar vintage and feel - but funny so it is even better. Professions of love, scaling garden walls, protecting family honor, mistaking intentions - hence the title, etc.

Gender neutral, of course.

Our Kitty will be playing the clever maid, keeping track of all the various domestic comings and goings - and of course in addition to knowing what you do, she'll be DPL'ing what you say.
