Here's the fixed act 1 (3:45) https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/hayfever_clara_1_128kb.mp3
And here's act 3: (3:25)

Thanks for your encouragement Wendy! Your reminder to just go for it was just the kick I needed.

Some of the lines in act 3 sound "tinny" to me. I re-recorded the more obvious ones, but do any of the lines submitted sound overly "tinny" to you?

Oh! I just thought of this! Clara could (unnecessarily and possibly unrecognizably) hum one or two measures of "I've Been Working on the Railroad." Alright if I insert that in tomorrow?

I actually like your original humming! :)
Act 1 PL OK

Just a couple of quick corrections to Act 3:
~57 leave 5 seconds of dead air before "It's a shame. . . "
~2:05 switched word "Well you HAVE missed. . ."

Otherwise excellent! Glad you're on our team. BTW, I didn't find the sound too "tinny", but that often indicates a problem with mic placement. If it's turned the wrong way or tilted oddly, it can change the sound. It's a good thing to play around with to see what works best for you.

Thanks again,
Wendy

Actually, don't do these corrections yet. I have a quick message in to ToddHW about some Audacity issues.

Thanks,
Wendy

Somehow (and I'm not sure how) in making the corrections to the first act, the sound quality of the rest of the recording has been seriously damaged. Do you know if you did anything to it other than to cut and paste the corrections in?

The original recording is at
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/hayfever_clara_1_128kb2021_03_29_23_31_55.mp3

The latest recording is at

Can you try again to add the changes in Audacity to the original file without doing any extra noise reduction, etc? I'm not exactly sure what happened, but we want to get it right before you make changes to Act 3.

Use the earlier note for the changes.

If my explanation doesn't make sense, feel free to ask for clarification! :)

Do'oh! Definitely did the ol' Ctrl-A ≥ Noise Reduction out of habit. Got roped into some unplanned errands today, so my day's shot.
I'll get to fixing the recordings ASAP.

Here is the fixed act 1: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/hayfever_clara_1_128kb.mp3 4:31

If that solves the problem then I think the tinnyness I heard in act 3 might've been the same issue. I'll go through again and rerecord some things.

Hmm. I don't think this is the file you meant to send me. :)

Oh dear - I saved the file I meant to delete and deleted the file I meant to keep!! Well, this has been a fun first "real" librivox recording for me!

Thank you for your patience.

Aaand good news is I didn't delete the file-- I just put it in the wrong folder. With everything being the same name I need to work out a better organization system for these corrected files.

Hopefully this 2:58 act 3 is without any hiccups.

Those hiccups sure made a mess!

Excellent job--even considering the hiccups! :) I love your characterization of Clara.

Act 3 PL OK

Thanks,
Wendy
