checked out the third act and there are again a few unneeded names, which can be cut

> at 0:28: Mrs Racket
> at 3:58: Villers
> at 4:06: Sir George
> at 4:16: Gibson

And one addition, as I think the whole first sentence should be mused:

> at 3:04: "Courtall, musing" - please include the name

thanks

and a few more cuts and inserts for Act 4:

names you can cut:

> at 0:36: Mask
> at 1:13: Flutter
> at 1:40: Doricourt
> at 2:08: Saville
> at 2:44: Lady Frances
> at 2:56: Courtall
> at 4:02: Flutter
> at 4:18: Saville
> at 4:29: Kitty
> at 4:52: Flutter

to be inserted/edited:

> at 1:17: "Sir George, aside"

> at 2:54: Courtall comes forward, habited like Sir George – I think I hear "habiteted", but I may be mistaken

> at 3:35: "Doricourt, aside"

> at 3:44: "Letitia, aside"

> at 3:49-3:52: Hardy, aside: can you delete the long pause here, as this should belong together

> at about 4:04: missed line: "Hardy, aside"

a bit pressed for time today, but I promise I'll get to Act 5 tomorrow morning

Thank you

I hadn't noticed it before I got to it, but at the end of Act 5 I read the Epilogue. If you don't want it, of course you can cut it out, but I thought it tied up the play very nicely.
ok Wayne, sorry for the multiple posts, but now I finally also checked Act 5. Yes, often the Epilogue is clearly noted for one specific actor, so we have it read by that reader here as well. In this case, no actor is mentioned, so the narrator can shine with the final words. Contextually it sounds like it should be spoken by a woman, but you managed quite well to give your voice a bit of a softer falsetto, so this was excellently done. Very funnily narrated too, a bit tongue-in-cheek. I liked it. Thanks

And some final cuts and edits to make in this act:

character names that can get cut:

> at 0:30: Villers
> at 0:40: Mrs Racket
> at 1:29: Saville
> at 2:27: Sir George
> at 3:40: Miss Ogle
> at 3:56: Sir George
> at 5:01: Omnes

names that should be added:

> at 0:53: Villers, to Letty – he already speaks to her at the beginning of the sentence
> at 2:47: Saville, aside
> at 3:45: Miss Ogle, aside
> at 3:49: Miss Ogle, aside
> at 4:18: Doricourt, aside
> at about 7:58: please add: End of Act 5 before the final disclaimer

thank you :)

hi Wayne, and thanks for the quick turn-around. The stage directions are always eagerly awaited. :9:

Sonia
It will be later today before I can get started on these. As to the first one, Saville, the reason I inserted his name is that as it was ActI, Scene I and two characters entered the stage (Saville and his servant), I figured that it would be important to identify the speaker as no characters had been identified by voice so the listener wouldn't know who was speaking in that first line. Still cut it?

After having not had enough identifiers in the first couple of these I did and had to add them, I figured that it was easier to 'cut' rather than 'add'. Also, I have inserted the cast list in some of the others and others they MC said that each reader would give the name of the character and their name, but I guess I was just getting lazy and assumed that that would happen here too, but, of course, I will add that.

I thought and wondered about the Queens dedication, and didn't do it. I should have in the thought process mentioned above about 'add' and 'cut'.

Thanks for all your hard work. As said I will get to it today.

yes please cut it, the readers will be identified by their voice credit anyway. We never announce them on the first appearance

yes they also do here and I admit most of the time the narrator will end up on the cutting floor. But Todd (our editor) still wants to have them, it sometimes happens that readers disappear without voice credit, then the narrator's lines are helpful. Also to know the correct order in which to copy/paste them in, it all helps making the already hard editor's job a bit easier. :)

Thanks

Well, here is attempt 2, Sonia,

I am so sorry to give you so much work. :( But the largest parts of my problem were missing the "aside" comments (I have now learned), and the many 'cuts' that had to be made. The first one of these I did I left many, many of them off and was told that if there is any question, put them in because it is easy to cut them out at 'editing' time. I guess that doesn't hold true all the time. But my thought process was that if there could be any problem at all as to who was speaking, as when two characters were mentioned entering a room, just say who is speaking. Well, I am smarter now thanks to you. :9:

I really hope these are OK.

yes I can actually understand this thinking, and you may have a valid point there too. But characters are by default never announced, trusting on the different voices to differentiate them. So unless you see a description behind the name (or a bit further in the older texts) you never have to say a name that just stands on its own.

Ok Acts 3 and 4 are now already PL ok.

I do have a few small notes for the other acts still (sorry  )

Act 1:

> at 2:19: "Dick, Courtall's servant" – could you add the description please as well ? - Todd put that description in the MW, so we read it as well

> at 2:50-3:02: "Masquerades, Tradesmen, Servants" – actually they all need separate voice credits. The easiest is always to check the MW because Todd already did the prep work and you can see which roles will be used and which are only mute roles and therefore don't need a voice credit.
Here we would need: Servant - Tradesman - Gibson - Folly - Mask - 2nd Mask - 3rd Mask - Mrs Fagg (read by...etc)

Act 2:

> at 3:15 and at 3:19: Courtall, aside - you missed these two

Act 5:

> at 3:53: Sir George – can be cut

> at 4:49: Mrs Racket - also cut (sorry, my mistake, I seemed to have overlooked those two in my initial PL job  sorry for causing an extra reupload)

Thanks, we're getting there !

Will check out the next acts a bit later.

Sonia
So, here is attempt three  ,

https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/bellesstratagem_stagdirections_2_128kb.mp3

As I am sure you guessed, I just read the parts as they appear in the 'script'.

Wayne

P.S. Thank you so much for the kind words about the Epiloge :9: it was fun.
