Hello,

As a tyro, I would like to claim the role of Section 20, Second Lord of the Treasury, Act 6 as my first recording, if that is okay.

Welcome to LibriVox! I'm happy that you've found this fun little play to get you started! I'm happy to assign you that role. What name would you like to use for the catalogue? It can be your real name, screen name, or some other pseudonym.

The first post should contain everything you need to know, but if you think of any questions, just ask!

Here is The Old Man, act 7 and 9, sections 31 and 32.

https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/aladdin_oldman_07_128kb.mp3, which runs at 2:53

Thanks,
Diane
Both PL ok, thank you so much! I especially enjoyed your portrayal of the old man in act 9. A very smooth talker, he is, and I detected a bit of impatience towards the end, when Hindbad doesn't seem ready to go along with his suggestion. Well done!
Thanks for the feedback, Devorah, and nice of you to say. :D

Thank you! Well, first things first. Here is your catalogue page, with your name displayed as you've requested: https://librivox.org/reader/15507 You can get to this page by clicking your name in the MW of any project you're signed up for. It will display every project you've read for, both completed and in-progress. (Right now, of course, it's just this one, but that will change as you get involved in more projects.)

Now, for the PL. Although you only have one medium-sized line, I thought you did very well with it! In fact, I hadn't really read this line before, but just skimmed over it. I think it's actually a pretty funny line, now that I get a good look at (and listen to) it!

I am going to ask for a couple of small changes. Nothing too major, but hopefully this will help you on other projects as well.

At the beginning, it's best to leave about 0.5-1 second of silence before you begin speaking, just so that nothing is accidentally cut off. (You don't have to address that here, but keep it in mind for the future.)
When you give your voice credit, there's no need to say "Role of," and in fact, it could even be a bit intrusive. For this, and pretty much all (unless I'm forgetting something) dramatic projects, you should just say "[Character name], read by [Reader name]." All these voice credits are eventually going to be strung together as our cast list, and it would be redundant for everyone to say "role of." Will you redo that credit, please?
0:51 And lastly, this won't apply to every script, but sometimes you have to keep your eyes peeled for "All" lines. There is one here, on page 150. All the workmen: "The Sultan, with his son-in-law!" Add this line on the end, and you're golden!

And yes, of course you may read another role! As long as it isn't in act 6, you can take your pick out of the roles that are still open. Which one(s) would you like?

Thanks, Adrian! Well done! I think that this scene in act 4 will be especially funny. :) There are some especially humorous lines in there, and you made the most of them all! Just a couple of corrections to make.

Please read full voice credit: "Saladin, betrothed to Gulnare." You can put it in act 4, as act 3 is otherwise PL ok.

Act 4:

1:27-1:34 Missed cut here.

That's it! Thanks again!

Here are two short parts, ready for checking -
(1) 'headsman' (act 7) - 1 min 7 secs long,
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/aladin_headsman_07_128kb.mp3

(2) 'laborer' (act 6), at 27 seconds.
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/aladin_laborer_06_128kb.mp3

(BTW: There may be an extra file in the upload directory - I accidentally named the laborer 'aladin_laborer_07_128kb.mp3' (wrong act!). That file can be deleted)

Happy Listening!

Thanks, Alan! Again, there's no need to worry about the tempo. I will adjust whatever needs to be adjusted when I edit, never fear.

Your role as the Water Spirit was excellent! However, you missed the note in the MW that says that I also wanted you to read for a few of the extras who appear in this act. Please add, from pages 113-114, the lines for "The Fairies," and all the Choruses, from page 137 on.

Thanks Doug, this is great, especially the headsman! :9:

Headsman is PL ok, thanks so much! You certainly captured both his disappointment and his thirst for blood!

I'd like a minor correction for the laborer.

0:15 Word change. Text reads (p. 149), "No doubt, they're quite surpassing things." I hear, "No doubt, they're quick surpassing things."
0:26 You also missed the "All" line at the end of the scene. (A common mistake.) P. 150, All the Workmen: "The Sultan, with his son-in-law!"
