oh this is a promising start for a dramatic plot. This guy is egging his daughter on to commit suicide if she doesn't do what he wants quite the psychopath character trait and you reading it all with a sort of nice smile on your face and gentle voice, this makes it all the more creepy. A really interesting character. He should have had a bigger role ! Well played, AlgyAlgy Pug wrote: ↑July 2nd, 2020, 6:10 pmReadings for Don Lopez

Act 4 is already PL ok, but I have a few notes for Act 1:
> at 1:24-1:32: (p. 8) if I may suggest a clarification here: in my opinion, judging from what is actually said, the first two sentences are the "aside" sarcastic thoughts of Don Lopez, and the last sentence is a question asked aloud to Isabella. In old scripts the "aside" is often written at the end of the sentence that is the aside (I know ... confusing, but I assume this is what happened here). I think the speech would be made clearer if you put on your whispery-aside voice to the beginning and the stern-parental booming voice to the final sentence
> at 1:47: (p. 9) "you shall have a better errand to church than to say your prayers there" – you say "here" which sounds odd in context. He means, she has a better reason to go to church than say the prayers there – namely she will marry Guzman there soon

it sounds extremely cool, Alan ! And not incomprehensible to me. You manage an accent without making it obscure. Really good job. I love Gibby ! PL ok.alanmapstone wrote: ↑July 9th, 2020, 7:07 amGibby act 3

Oh and Todd, I read through a particular scene in Act 2 where Flora and Inis will fight over your Lissardo Extremely looking forward to this cat-fighting scene. You may end up as collateral damage in this

Thanks Sonia This is just the sort of fun cameo role that I really like to do rather than anything too large.Kitty wrote: ↑July 10th, 2020, 1:12 amit sounds extremely cool, Alan ! I can totally understand that. And very often the short roles steal the show from the big'uns in some scenes.alanmapstone wrote: ↑July 10th, 2020, 1:20 amThis is just the sort of fun cameo role that I really like to do rather than anything too large.
Go, Gibby !

Oh great. I go from "somehow endearing (in a pathetic sort of way)" to "collateral damage". I'm going to need a taller tombstone to hold all these pithy epitaphs.
Thanks, Todd

Remember the Dean Martin motto, Todd.
“When all else fails, go with chunkier jewellery.”
