("Trembling" instead of "tremblingly" makes it sound as though the parson is the one trembling instead of Clara Belle, I believe.)

@ 8:21 Pause needed: "...not so much a vicious past, in his own generous estimation of it, as a [pause here] one."
(Could you re-read this sentence with a space in it this time? I'm going to assign the words "thunderin' foolish" to Abner -- sorry I didn't catch this sooner!).

I didn't proof listen to the entire chapter at once like I usually do, but in spurts as I was editing -- I hope I didn't miss anything. The narrator speaks entirely too much in this last chronicle, in my humble opinion (people will get tired of my voice).
