Hello, I'd like to play Estrella if possible! I'm also new, and I've completed the 1 minute test as well.
Great. Thank you and welcome to Librivox.

Please check the note I posted a couple above for some thought to be helpful guidance.

Thanks, Todd

Thank you both.

NOTE that I need a DPL to listen to these and other files as they come in. If not, I will just get to them when I can.

Thanks, Todd

Terrific! Thank you. I see you have done PL before. Great.

What I care most about in a reader file for a play is that there are no lines missed since that would mess up the lines of other people as well.

I do NOT care if people pronounce other character's names (or place names) differently from each other - I treat that as people just having an accent, or using pet name pronunciations, or something like that. But I would like to have people use the same consistent pronunciation of names throughout each file.

If words are wrong or order slightly changed, I only care if it significantly changes the meaning such that a listener will be confused.

I will adjust all the volumes as I edit. So reader file volumes are not too important except that they must not be so high as to cause clipping and its fuzziness. That has to be fixed by the original reader - once the clipping is in an exported mp3 file, nothing can be done to fix it. Low volumes are only a problem if the reader voice is getting buried in background noise; they should be able to do noise cleaning with Audacity to, well, clean that up.

I cut everything apart to make the master files, and so I need gaps between reader lines to do that editing. 2-3 seconds can be enough, 5-10 is better, and it is hard to think of anything that could be too much.

The PL'ing above is an enormous help to me so I know that reader part files are complete and ready when I start to edit. Then when I get the acts assembled and complete, then there will have to be a final PL to make sure I put everything together correctly.

Thanks, Todd

(You should now have access to the MW to mark sections as they are PL'd - changing status to See Notes or PL OK. By the way, as sections are PL'd and OK, I move them down the MW and collect them by act so I know when I can start to edit.)

Estrella Act 1 and Act 2 PL notes:

Beautiful reading of Estrella's lines, Christine. The technical specifications of the files are also spot-on. The only issue is that the lines are too close together - there needs to be a 5 second gap between each line, and there is currently only a 1 second gap between each line. As Todd, the coordinator and editor for the project, mentioned earlier in the thread, he has to copy all the parts from each reader's file and paste them into a master file. It's easier to see where each line starts and ends if there are 5 seconds of silence between the lines. You can use the "generate silence" feature in Audacity to add in the silence since you have already recorded the lines - just click Generate > Silence > OK. (5 seconds of silence should be the default setting, but you can adjust the amount of silence, as well.)

Also, could you add "Basilio's niece" to the voice credit to make the dramatis personae more clear? I.e., read "Estrella, Basilio's niece, read by Christine."

Please make the above edits and re-upload the files using the same file names. Post in this thread when the files are ready for spot PL. Thanks so much.

Thank you for the pointers! I've fixed both recordings.
