Aww, come off it! "Auteuil"....?!

I took a guess...

I thought I'd use my own everyday speaking voice for this role. The one I use in the Poetry readings is my Sunday-go-to-meetings voice.

Cheers,
Chris

Should I add something to the summary that this play should only be listened to from Monday through Saturday?

Thanks, Todd

 it's exactly like "fauteuil" just leave out the 'f' at the beginning. (no worries....you did it quite accurately  )

I love the gruff voice, I love the performance !!!!! Well you don't sound exactly like British country gentry, but since I continuously play an immigrant European in Australian plays, you can well be an Australian immigrant to the UK here. 8-) Hi highly enjoyed the exasperation you had with Pinching and Moxon, the yelling is excellent.

All in all a brilliant characterization. And totally PL ok. Can't wait to hear all this assembled. :9:

Looking forward to the remaining acts.

Thank you

yes a shorter part this time as you only appear right at the end. Excellent job again, showing a bit more sensitive side now that you see your dear boy again

PL ok again, thank you.

Hello, first time reader here. Since Tiny Landon and Mr Moulter only have three short lines between them can I take both parts?

Thank you and welcome. More importantly, they are in different acts so there will be no listener confusion. Now we are full!

Some notes about dramatic works: The first posting in this (and every) project has the instructions on file names and uploading files and posting the uploader link in the forum to have the file Proof-Listened. These instructions are pretty standard throughout Librivox.

1) you don't have to read an intro or outro disclaimer, this will be done by the narrator. Instead, record your voice credit at the beginning of the file, which should be something like: "Iphicrate, prince in love with Eriphyle, read by XXXX" (whatever you want your reader name to be)

2) then browse through the text (link to the text is in the first posting) and record all the lines you have to speak. Also include any "All" lines while your character is on stage. For a big role it may be good to read the entire play to get into character, but at least it would be good to read a bit around your lines, see what the others are saying, so you can better "react" to them. Just be as expressive (according to the character) as you can in your role.

3) if there are pointers in the text qualifying your voice, like [laughs] or [whines], an added bonus would be that you act those out in your reading, if possible, to make it all more interesting.

4) your file will be proof-listened, and you may receive some notes on corrections and their time locations in your file. These will be posted in the forum and show in the Magic Window marked as "See PL Notes" - please cut corrections into your file to update it and upload a new file (SAME NAME) in a reasonable time - like before your voice and equipment setup change and everything sounds different!

5) and most importantly: please leave enough space between each of your speeches, preferably 5-10 seconds or more. Even when you have the stage directions in the middle of your speech (for example: [kisses her hand]), also leave 5-10 seconds of pause there, because our editor (me) later on has to copy all your parts and paste them into his (my) master file and it's helpful if he (me) has enough space to fiddle with

That's it, I think. Just have fun acting out. And post any questions here.

Thanks, Todd

Act 1 assembled - not ready for PL yet. Just over an hour in length.

I don't listen too much when I assemble - that comes in my next pass through - but what I heard so far sounds great!

Thanks, Todd

and who, pray tell, is this Lucy ? One of your acquaintances at Auteuil ? :| (I use the word "acquaintance", because I am a lady)

Oh you must have enjoyed bearing down on me with all your righteousness and seeing me squirm  but excellently played and I think these scenes will be wonderful once assembled.

I only have one slight change to suggest:

> at 27:29 (p. 167) "That's something like my scheme." - you say "like a scheme", but I think he meant it really that it was similar to his own scheme, seeing how in the next sentence he then compares it to her scheme.

The rest is perfect

Thanks, Chris ! Wonderful job

Hello, here's Tiny Landon and Mr Moulter. I know it's only a small bit but any feedback would be welcome.

 well, nothing to complain about. As you said, just two small roles, but every voice counts and you managed to make them both memorable, and distinct enough. Switching from a petulant, annoyed child in the first act to a world-wise opportunistic decayed jockey in the third act has been flawlessly done (or was it the other way around ?). I only had a glimpse at your talent now, but I can tell already that you'll fit in nicely into our drama group, so I hope I'll hear you in another (maybe even bigger) role soon. :9:

Great job, and both parts straight PL ok. Congrats to your first official PL oks !!! And thanks for the quick turn-around !

Todd: And that means that I will get to listen to the finished product of Act 1 soon :9: we only need Tomas' voice credit, but I can easily spot PL that part in the end.

Lucy’s a female jockey, and her explanation after winning the race was “Gee, I’m sorry to do that to you, Boss, but I couldn’t help it! The reins broke.”

Will fix it up this arvo before I start editing Kengussie.

You know, the way you are treating poor Reverend Todd, he’s going to join a monastery and take a vow of silence.

But I just bet that he takes a ventriloquist’s dummy in there with him. They didn’t call him “Ol’ Loophole” at the seminary for nothing.

Cheers,
Chris
