Good morning,

I would like to take on the Narration for Chapters 1 and 2. Please let me know if they are still open.
Incidentally, This is my first time assuming a role in a fully cast project. For the lines of characters, do you just want me to take a pause? Or would you prefer me to insert sound cues, like a click or something, that would signify this is a character line that needs to be inserted? Just checking. Please let me know.

Sky,

Thank you for volunteering, I have updated the MW to show you narrating Chapters 1 & 2. I am hoping that you will consider taking the other narrator sections as well.

For all dramatic recordings, including the narrator, please leave a 3-5 second gap in the recording between your lines (as noted in the first post of the project) so that the lines of other characters can be inserted during the editing process.

Good morning,

Here is the upload link for Chapter 1. This is a lovely story; I would like to go ahead and take on narrating the other chapters. Please let me know if this is alright.

Sky,

Thank You for taking on all the narration, it will be so much nicer that way for our listeners.

I enjoyed the recording, there are just a few PL notes, mostly minor.

1) I am comparing your recording(s) to the original text, not the colored Google documents. There is a subtitle in the original text that was not in the Googles. Please record the phrase "A Story of THE PENNSYLVANIA COAL MINES" - it can be submitted in a separate file (such as blindbrother_narrator_1_extraline_128kb.mp3 ), you don't have to insert it into the existing recording as the files will be edited later.

2) Please start the recording for each section with the Chapter number ( Chapter 1 of The Blind Brother ...); the phrase exists later in the file so I can cut/paste it for this chapter.

3) The background noise was a little high (measured at 44 by Checker) and the volume was a little low (83, our normal target range is 86-92). If you have time please adjust these in the future; dramatic works are less strict on these than other projects as someone (in this case me) will be editing the files later, so this is a request - not a mandate.

Hello David!
Thank you for the input. I'm not very tech savvy, but I figured out how to reduce the noise level with Audacity's noise reduction function, so I did that and re-uploaded the new file at https://librivox.org/uploads/dlolso21/blindbrother_narrator_1_128kb.mp3
Please let me know if this version sounds better to you (it does to me, honestly - - I'm new to Audacity, too, so thank you for your patience and guidance). If if does, I will apply it to the other chapter files, and follow your other directions as well. I'll get that extra line to you soon - - I just wanted to check out how to reduce the noise and increase the volume first before I submit anything else.

Thank you for your feedback!

Sky,

The new file is better. Your background noise dropped to 31db from 44db, I use the "Checker" program ( https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/ ) to get these numbers.

The volume still came in a little low, but you can use the Amplify option ( same effects drop-down menu in Audacity as Noise reduction) to increase the volume. This is not critical as I can amplify it during editing as well.

Can I claim the role of Bennie. I have already done the Judge in 4 & 5 and does not conflict with those chapters. I can do in a character voice different from the Judge.

Larry,

Thank you for volunteering; the MW has been updated.

There is an additional line indicated in the MW. It is near the end of the chapter, after your other lines, but it was not colored in the google document.

Sky,

Chapter 6 is PL OK.

PL Note for Chapter 4

missing phrases (italicized portions below)
“We are, your Honor,” replied the district attorney, rising to his feet and advancing to the clerk’s desk. - This was mis-colored as something said by the "District Attorney" in the google document.

PL Note for Chapter 5
The sonorous voice of the court-crier, adjourning the courts until the following morning, echoed through the now half-emptied room, and the sheriff said to Rennie,— - This was mis-colored as something said by the "Jack Rennie" in the google document.
