 ok who would have thought he'd turn out such a sleeze ? Well, well, well... this was an interesting role for you Alan. I don't recall that you ever played the money-hungry fortune hunter before. But you got well into the game I must say. Quite a naughty laugh you are putting out there.

Well done, I like the interpretation. I only found two small things to correct:

> at about 0:05: missing line: BASTLING. [At the window.] "Muriel!"

> at 2:52: "What do you want, then?" - this may be my ears playing tricks, but I hear "What do you want, man"

Bastling act 4 revised

https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/gaylordquex_bastling_4.mp3

I have added the word "Muriel". On your second point, I meant to say "then" and it sounds to me as though I did, so I have left that unchanged.

Here's Muriel Eden:

In Act 4, in the parts where Muriel is crying, some of the words are a bit hard to hear over my attempt at fake crying... If you need to me to do a version with less crying and more enunciation, just let me know ;)
Foon - Real life is getting in the way of LV, will be slow until all is back on track, please bear with me!

sorry for the delay, Foon, but now I listened to your entire performance and it's really brilliant. Your tearful performance was heart-wrenching  And I could understand everything very well, I think we can keep it as such, it will make this particular scene very emotional. Poor Muriel. I wonder if she will have a happy life with Quex, who obviously still has feelings for the Duchess :(

Also for the rest, nothing missing, all wonderfully acted out. All of Muriel is PL ok.

Thanks !

I'm having so much fun with this character! She's recorded up through act 3. I didn't realize when I signed up just how much of a spitfire she would turn out to be! She also has a habit of changing her entire demeanor at a moment's notice, which has been fun. Here is act 1, for now. More to come.

almost 20 minutes  wow, didn't expect that much. I'm glad you like her, Devorah. Yes I think she is a very complex character, that's what I meant, she cannot be called a villain altogether even though some of her actions and motives are not totally nice ones.

Looking forward to listening to this, but I can't promise it will be today, because I have some family dinner planned and already accumulating some backlog. But I try my best.

Here is act 2. I'm finished recording for this now. I'll try to get the next two acts edited and uploaded tomorrow or the next day.

Devorah this is a brilliant performance  You really play naughty little Miss Sophy to perfection. You flirt ! The scene in the garden where she unsuccessfully tries to honey-trap Quex is wonderfully hilarious (although a bit embarrassing for both I imagine). I can so hear already the way Todd will be replying to your advances  This will be marvellous.

Oh and one highlight right at the beginning: when you said "in time I rose to be Useful Maid", I had to burst out laughing when I heard that. I still remember your wailing performance for the Playgoers. I don't think that was Sophy's temperament though, still it's funny that the useful maid gets mentioned here again

Both acts perfectly PL ok. Great performance, and looking forward to the rest ! The scene in the night will catch Sophy a bit more in an awkward situation.

Thanks !

Sophy, act 3: In which we attempt to conclusively determine how many different inflections one woman can give to the word "Oh."

 indeed there should be the appropriate Oh for every circumstance  well done, Devorah, your oh-repertoire is quite well filled up.

Also the rest of the dialogue is absolutely marvellous. Veering from self-righteous defiance to pitiful squirming in a few minutes was a really cool change of character. While listening I was torn between pitying her but secretly also rooting for Quex to get out of this dilemma (and of course I'm quite partial to the Duchess, as I would be, since I play her part  )

Great acting skills here, Devorah ! I only found one sentence which may benefit from redoing:

> at 3:47: "I beg you won't use such language" - you say "bet" and with that you also give a different intonation in your voice than if you said "beg", which is probably rendered more cringingly maybe

Thanks !

Hmm, I remember this line quite well, and I'm sure I meant to say beg, but then, in my indignation, it could have gotten muffled. I do think that, at this point in the conversation, Sophy is still hiding behind cold hauteur, so I don't think a cringing tone is appropriate here. I'll have a listen, though, and see if maybe I can rerecord to make it a bit more crisp.

yes, haughty sounds good too. And maybe you said beg and it's my ears playing tricks. They're not the best anymore, I'm afraid. :( If you tell me it's "beg" then I believe you :)
