Excellently performed, Todd. Like Sonia, I loved the rolling R's.ToddHW wrote: ↑September 14th, 2018, 8:08 am I have made the changes you suggest and uploaded replacement files for Acts 1 and 2.
For the first time, I am recording with Audacity. Prior to this I have always used a small Sony handheld recorder, uploaded the recorded files, opened Audacity and imported them, converted them to mono and amplified, and then did my editing. Much easier to just press a button in Audacity and record! Hooray.
Glad the sound quality is okay this way. I did have a buncha electronic noise last week when I first tried this - I had to to shield the power transformers on my new Internet stuff and computer to get rid of spikes inaudible to me while recording but definitely very audible and visible in the recorded file. (My handheld was even more sensitive to the electronic noise than my USB mike - even in another room well away from the computer and Internet stuff my old handheld was picking up the spikes.)
Thanks, Todd
You've also convinced me to pronounce it as "Riven."

oh how wonderful, I absolutely L-O-V-E the Scottish accent excellently played out. Only as a quick note, you don't have to say "act 1" or "end of act 1" in your role, this is all done by narrator of the stage directions. But it doesn't matter if you include it, just it's not necessary.snaresamn wrote: ↑September 15th, 2018, 5:59 pmHere are my files:

Act 1 is already PL ok.
PL notes for Act 2:
> at about 0:08: please insert ten missing lines (p. 9): "Here Robert you may rest concealed ... (etc) ... coast be clear for our return."
you missed the very first speech at the beginning of the act
Other than that, all perfect. Thanks so much for joining the group
Sonia
Sam just now also is in the Riven-group
oops I nearly missed these. Will get to checking soon !Speaking of, here's the remaining narration:

great atmosphere in your narration, Chuck all your conspiratorial whisperings, then followed by louder action moments are giving it a creepy mood, very fitting. Loved it all. I think maybe all those directions which only state where someone is standing, like "Effie, left" or "Ruthven, right" will not really be necessary in the end, but it's good to have them included, then you can see later which are fitting or only break the flow of the action.ChuckW wrote: ↑September 15th, 2018, 3:40 pmSpeaking of, here's the remaining narration:

I did find some missing lines or errors though, here we go:
PL notes for Act 1:
> volume only 82.1 dB
> at about 1:03: (p. 4) missing lines: "Enter Bridget and Robert, left"
> at about 6:06: (p. 8) missing lines: "Enter Robert, left upper entrance"
> at 6:23: (p. 8) "enter Ruthven, Ronald and attendants, left upper entrance" - you say "left upper center", which doesn't make sense really, you can't both be left and center but as said before, maybe it's not even that important where they enter from
> at 6:53: (p. 8) "Effie, with hesitation, center" - you say "without" (you misjudge Effie's character here )
PL notes for Act 2:
> volume only 81.9 dB
> at 3:28: (p. 10): "Ruthven, apart to Ronald" - you omitted "Ruthven"
> at 4:34: (p. 11): "Ruthven, aside" - you have here a simple "aside" which can be cut out as you repeat it with Ruthven directly after
> at 6:25: (p. 12): "Song M'Swill, tune..." - here the recording breaks off abruptly and the right column and next page are missing
thanks
Sonia

Hello - sorry for my prolonged absence but I'm back! Did my best with the melodies for Effie...

the melodies are absolutely beautiful, they really invoke the Scottish foggy highlands. Wonderful choice. Did you invent them yourself ? Great job in any case.leanneyauyau wrote: ↑September 19th, 2018, 2:14 amHello - sorry for my prolonged absence but I'm back! Did my best with the melodies for Effie...
I have a few comments here though:
PL notes for Ariel:
> sampling rate has again reverted to 48,000 Hz instead of 41,100
> from 0:06-0:21: (p. 3) I think this can be cut out, as it's only Unda speaking. The chorus part is only the "appear appear" line if I'm not mistaken ? Ariel appears only in the next scene after being summoned.
> at 0:22 and 1:48: (p. 3 and p. 4) the "appear appear" line needs to be repeated at both these time stamps. Alternatively, Chuck can also take the first version again, but maybe you want to give it a different intonation ? I let you decide
PL notes for Effie, Act 1:
> sampling rate needs to be 44,100 Hz
PL notes for Effie, Act 2:
> sampling rate needs to be 44,100 Hz
> at 0:13: (p. 9) "fare thee well" etc is already sung in unison with Robert at this point. But I guess Chuck can take the chorus from the end here to use. Again, your choice
you were a sweet Effie, Leanne. I liked the scene where she is in danger from Ruthven's advances.
Thanks
Sonia
She was never in serious danger from me. I'm a marshmallow kinda vampire....
Thanks, Todd

I have listened the duet a few times and will try to do my part at the weekend. Plus the rest of Robert.

I think I fixed the sampling rate? As for the other PL notes I'll leave that for someone else to decide, but I think it should be okay. For Ariel I cut the bits out that you requested and replaced them with Appear Appear.

Robert act 2 duet
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/vampire_robert_2_duet.mp3
I have attempted to record my part of the duet following Leanne's recording but unfortunately have found it almost impossible to do. I have uploaded my best effort but I think it is pretty hopeless and will fully understand if it is considered unusable in which case I can only suggest that I give up the role and you get someone else to do it.
