COMPLETE [DR] An Old-Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott - tg
I like Tricia's idea of speeding up the tempo. Would you like to try that, Tiffany?

Sure, I will figure out how to do that and see if I can't squeeze it under that time limit!!

Yeah, to speed up the tempo a teeny bit, just open the audio file in Audacity, then hit Ctrl + A to select the entire recording. Then go up to the top and click Effect > Change Tempo... and there you can increase the speed of the chapter a little.

Finally, here is chapter 6, hope it sounds ok, I upped the tempo by 4 and cut back a lot of the silences between speech

Hi Devorah - did you save the original version?
I have to say, I don't love the up tempo effect. Some characters are more affected than others, but overall I don't find this version as nice to listen to as other chapters. The removal of the spaces between speeches makes it sound breathlessly rushed at that speed!
I have an alternative suggestion: the problem is the Grandmother - can you just up tempo her speeches selectively? If you speed her up by 5% and leave everyone else alone that would probably do it!
(I haven't PLed the whole chapter, as I think some re-editing will be necessary. If you have the original tempo file before you took out the spaces, you can upload it as a FLAC file and I can play with the editing a bit if you are sick of it!)

Ugh, chapter six was a bear, especially for poor Grandma! Sorry the editing is giving fits, too.

Here is chapter 6 again *fingers crossed* I did as suggested and just changed the tempo on Grandma's lines and a couple of Maud's just to shave off a few seconds without messing with the silences, thanks for the suggestions and offer of help
