All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-maidens-song-by-bjornstjerne-bjornson/
Bjørnstjerne Martinius Bjørnson was a Norwegian writer who received the 1903 Nobel Prize in Literature "as a tribute to his noble, magnificent and versatile poetry, which has always been distinguished by both the freshness of its inspiration and the rare purity of its spirit", becoming the first Norwegian Nobel laureate. Bjørnson is considered to be one of The Four Greats (De Fire Store) among Norwegian writers, the others being Henrik Ibsen, Jonas Lie, and Alexander Kielland. Bjørnson is also celebrated for his lyrics to the Norwegian National Anthem, ( Wikipedia)

[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
Good-morning, sun, 'mid the leaves so green —
Mind of youth in the dales' deep reaches,
Smile that brightens their somber speeches,
Heaven's gold on our earth-dust seen!

Good-morning, sun, o'er the royal tower!
Kindly thou beckonest forth each maiden;
Kindle each heart as a star light-laden,
Twinkling so clear, though a sad night lower!

Good-morning, sun, o'er the mountain-side!
Light the land that still sleep disguises
Till it awakens and fresh arises
For yonder day in thy warmth's full tide!

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.

Just a couple PL notes:

The leading silence is 1.2 seconds.
There are audible clicks over the last phrase ("This recording is in the public domain").

Hey awesome readers, first post, and my picky attention to detail coming through.

I listened to entries from brucek, aradlaw, and Claire, wondering if "...though a sad night lower!" in the second stanza should rhyme with "tower" from the first line. EDIT: I think Newgatenovelist gets it! :D

I had to look it up; seems like the old-time-y definition of "lower (ˈlou(ə)r/)" fits with describing the scene: a dark and gloomy appearance of the sky, weather or landscape.

Kudos to the readers! I hope to make my debut with the Weekly Poem soon!
