Act 2 is missing all the edits, maybe you forgot to upload that one ?

Still have to explain to my daughter why I keep saying all this weird stuff into my microphone. The perils of a part time stay-at-home dad.

oh this is bad so you had to re-do it all. How can you NOT save a file ? Audacity always asks you before logging off, doesn't it ?ChuckW wrote:Even worse... I forgot to save the file altogether! Grrrraaaargh!
this is PRICELESS !!!!! thanks for sharing. Well your daughter is extremely well-behaved, she waits until you finished recording before asking questions.Still have to explain to my daughter why I keep saying all this weird stuff into my microphone. The perils of a part time stay-at-home dad.

The unfortunate byproduct of having about seven or eight sound files all open at the same time. I wasn't being especially attentive at the time, so... yeah. Had to redo it this morning. Trust me, I'm not deleting a single thing until you give me a PL OK on the most recent file.Kitty wrote:oh this is bad so you had to re-do it all. How can you NOT save a file ? Anyway, I'll try to squeeze in Acts 3-5, provided my daughter takes a nap today.

My recording of Alaric is described as being '93dB'. Do you want me to adjust the volume and upload again?
no as there was nothing else wrong with the file, we will adjust the volume anyway in editing. No need to change it for now. But you need to be careful when you read chapters or poems for example, there the volume should stay within the limit 86-92 dB.RecordingPerson wrote:My recording of Alaric is described as being '93dB'. Thanks for asking
Sonia
I adjust all the parts to similar level as I get ready to assembly them together.
The big issue with reader parts is avoiding clipping by being too loud. That causes a fuzzy sound that I can not fix in editing. Audicity has a setting that will highlight clipping in red before you export the mp3 file.
If things are too soft in a file, then it can end up having a lot of noise when I amplify it to match the other parts. Best to have the reader amplify within abut 3 dB or so and then, if necessary, noise clean before they upload.
Thanks, Todd

Two more files. I'd actually intended to finish all the narration this evening, but we got hit by a pretty severe thunderstorm... so this is it for today. I'll have the rest up soon.

thank you Chuck. These two acts are so suspenseful and I love that your narrator seems to be more part of the cast, you are really reading with feeling and emotion where needed. Some scenes really had me hooked with suspenseChuckW wrote:Two more files. both Acts are slightly under 85 dB, so I need to make a note, unless you want to amplify yourself
in Act 3:
> at about 2:52: please insert missing "Exit" (p. 51)
in Act 4:
> at 4:10: "and they convey him from the chamber" (p. 78) - you say "to the chamber" but actually here I am not even sure whether it's important to change this as they probably also convey him into another chamber (they are hardly ditching him in the moat LOL)
I will mark Act 4 PL ok and let you (or Tomas) decide if you want to change this
Sonia
Draft of Act 4 uploaded, put into MW. Not ready for PL - still missing parts.
Thanks, Todd
Thanks, Todd
I incorporated the narration fixes into the Act 1 and Act 2 master files. (You can see I now show that the narration is "Incorporated in complete act file" for those in the MW.)ToddHW wrote:Draft of Act 4 uploaded, put into MW. Not ready for PL - still missing parts.
