40 brief poems covering an assortment of subjects. ( adr6090)
Volunteers outside the USA: Maxwell Bodenheim died in 1954. His/Her work is still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years.
How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.
Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!
Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz
DURING recording:
• At the beginning of the recording, leave no more than one second of silence and read the abbreviated "LibriVox disclaimer": "[Poem title], by Maxwell Bodenheim, [optional: read for LibriVox dot org by [your name]]."
• Then read the poem.
• At the end, say: "End of poem. This recording is in the public domain." and leave five seconds of silence.
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of Advice: a book of poems, by Maxwell Bodenheim. "
There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
Please remember to check this thread frequently for updates!
[*]AFTER recording Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide. Save files as
128 kbps MP3
advice_##_bodenheim_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. advice_01_bodenheim_128kb.mp3)
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.

This is set up.
You posted the template 3 times in the thread, after your last post here. I don't know why. I deleted them, to make things less confusing.
I changed the intro/outro to the short, poetry one. Please look it over to see if it makes sense.
Hello Tricia,
Yes, I did post 3 times as I was correcting what I had typed. Sorry for the mess though thank you for helping clean it up.
So are you going to be the Mc for this project? The page looks wonderful thank you again Tricia.
Is it my responsibility to fill in the section names? Once I do, than I will claim a few of them for me to read. I have never put a group project on Lv so I am not positive just how to best accomplish it. I do hope that you do not mind if I ask you questions?

Tricia is online quite a bit and is always helpful.
I'm available, too, and I hope you'll always feel free to ask me for any help you might need.
As for the section titles, yes, you fill them in. As for assigning readers, let's do this once you get the titles filled in.
Yes, you fill in the section titles and assign sections as they're claimed. I recommend adding the claim date to the Notes field. That is an easy way to keep track of claims, so you know when you can orphan sections claimed by readers eons ago.
I also recommend putting in word counts in the notes field, although if these are all short, that might not be needed. It's nice for readers to have an idea how long a section is, so they can have an idea as to the commitment involved.
When the files are submitted, you put in the file URL and run time in like you do on a solo, and mark it "Ready for PL".
Further instructions/questions will be given as required.

Thank you so much, I am excited to start this. Word counts, hmmmmm. The only way that I know to do that is to copy the section to a word program that will show the word count, write them down on paper then delete that from my computer and do the same for the following sections. Unless there may be a more simple way that I do not know about. Do you know of one that can replace my thought here? Yes, choosing to read it is always good to know the word count prior claiming.I also understand putting the claim date in the mw.
Or you could copy/paste a big chunk of the text into Word, then highlight the poem and get that word count. I don't know that you need to write it down if you just put it directly into the notes field from there, but you could write them all down and add them to the MW after getting them all.

Most all the poems are a page or less. I think Tricia's advice here about shorter sections might be heeded. For practice, you might wish to supply the word counts for the longer poems at the close.

You can copy this code into a bookmark, highlight the text, and click the bookmark. I have it on my bookmarks toolbar so it's always visible:

Thank you for the link, it is now on my toolbar also. I will get these items put together tomorrow.
