This would be my first try at a dramatic reading, but I would claim Ko-Ko if you are willing to take a chance on a newbie. Since it is such an important role, I would understand if you would rather let someone else do it. I would help with the choruses if still needed, or maybe with editing as a chance to learn some of that...

Let's go for it! (You have a great voice for Ko-Ko!) Are you at all familiar with the operetta? The libretto I have linked is not the easiest to read, unfortunately.

This is a poetic reading (no singing please!) and the songs which would normally be superimposed will be read sequentially, but you will need to read "down" the page and the formatting is horrible - see for example the song "To sit in solemn silence..."

If the libretto says "etc" please read me a full repeat of the chorus, as you would sing it - don't read "et cetera".

Katisha is KAT-ish-ah, emphasis on the first syllable please - I think you say it the most often of anyone! This is a comic opera, so feel free to ham it up! If you get stuck, let me know!

Hi Devorah, my two files for Pitti-Sing are now in the MW - it's up to you if you want to PL them ahead of time or just edit them straight in.

Pitti-Sing is probably a good base file to edit the female chorus parts into, as she has some of the verses but I've also done all the female chorus parts as well - whether scripted for her or not.

Thank you. I've downloaded both of them. I'll let you know if I find any errors.

Thanks for the info and the encouragement. I will take just a day or two to listen to some of the other DRs on here and review the info about the play, and then I will take a shot at the recordings. I will rely on your feedback to try to get to a performance that you like, so please be honest (but not brutally...unless that is really needed).

This is a good version - very clear diction that makes the most of the libretto!

And no, I don't give "brutal" feedback - it's the interpretation of the reader that makes the DRs interesting, IMHO...

For an example - this is Eric Idle as the Lord High Executioner! He makes the most of the comic angle!

I have a snippet of the first minute or two of Ko-ko’s dialogue (through Little List) that I would like some feedback on, as far as the “performance” goes. Is it inappropriate to upload it here for you to put an ear to?

I'd be happy to help out here and read Yum-Yum.

Obviously, I don't sound like a "little maid from school", so if you'd rather have somebody who does, that's fine by me. :D
Cheers,
Ava.

Thanks Availle, I'll put you in for Yum-Yum. We can pretend to be "schoolgirls 18 and under" together!

Thanks Russell, this is all fine! I like the sense of rhythm and poetry you've brought to the "little list" song! I guess the only other thing to add is that Ko-ko is a comic character (even his name!) so you can ham up the comedy angle as much as you like!
