Is that the thingy people put in their mouths for the Punch voice? I didn't know what they were called!

Yup. Apparently they now come with a string attached so you can yank it out of your gullet if you accidentally swallow it!

Before doing a quick search on swazzle, I'd have said that I was totally willing to give it a try. I mean, I probably would have looked into it before now, if I'd known the word swazzle. It just looks (and sounds) so cool! And really, how hard could it be?

After doing a quick search on swazzle.... Well, evidently pretty hard. I almost still want to try it, though.

Picking up on Anne's suggestion, I've been looking into the possibility of some kind of vocoder effect to post-process the voice. Much safer. I'll keep you posted.

We don't have anything by the Roman playwright Terence.

His six comedies are:

Andria; or, the Fair Andrian
Eunuchus; or, the Eunuch
Heautontimorumenos; or, the Self-Tormentor
Adelphi; or, the Brothers
Hecyra; the Mother-in-law
Phormio; or, the Scheming Parasite

They are on Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/22188

They look interesting and the Gutenberg scripts look good. I might offer them if you don't want to.

I read Mother-in-Law and it was so Moliere! Or, I guess, vice-versa? Amazing find!

Back to Punch & Judy...

Following up on Annise's suggestion, I've done a small test with a light (open source) vocoder effect.

What do people think?

From the Book Suggestions forum:
Some literary scholars think "Lucifer" has significant influence on "Paradise Lost". So former would be great companion to existing Librivox recordings of latter. Also "Lucifer" is specifically about Lucifer's rebellion in Heaven -- stories on this subject are rare.
Lucifer, by Joost van den Vondel (translated from the Dutch).

http://gutenberg.org/ebooks/37659

The Gutenberg text has a gazillion introductions and notes and prefaces and all that - the play itself is about 18,000 words.
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
Humor: My Lady Nicotine

Well done Todd. You keep supplying us with plays to work on.
If this is supposed to be a comedy it is a bit odd as the story seems to include a rape.
Happy New Year
