The Confessions of a Daddy by Ellis Parker Butler (1869 - 1937).

This project can be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/the-confessions-of-a-daddy-by-ellis-parker-butler/
The wry humor of Ellis Parker Butler, who gave us the classic Pigs Is Pigs, takes us into his own married life where Marthy and Hiram live quietly in their colorado town. They don't have trouble with anyone of their neighbors. Why should they, as they don't have any kids that could cause the neighbours trouble. And oh, luckily they don't have kids because how could Hiram otherwise afford to give his wife, Marthy a new silk dress? Really lucky. The neighbors kids are cute and all but ugh, they are much better off without kids and their expenses and trouble. Except that one boy, hes cool, hiram wouldn't mind having him around. Or maybe the neighbors youngest daughter, shes so nice. But this kind of changes when they expect a child of their own. Funny, poignant and oh, so true! (summary by Carolin and Phil Chenevert )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/confessionsadad00butlgoog#page/n6/mode/2up
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

This project already has a DPL.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Well Larry, It looks like my new member has gone away so I would be very happy if you would do the honors of DPLing this volume.

Cute story!

All PL OK.

The only thing I noticed is that ticking clock throughout most of Chapter One. I don't think it is too bad, but it is up to you , of course.

Larry I am going to let the 'ticking clock' alone and not try to fix anything. I don't hear it but my hearing in that range is not good. actually bad. Thanks.

I think that is fine, Phil. It seemed to fit in nicely anyway.
Thanks for letting me in on this cute piece. :)
