Well, if you export in .mp3 first, that defeats the whole purpose of using the .flac format.
Both .flac and .wav formats are "lossless," whereas .mp3 is a compressed format which means there is some loss in audio quality.
While it is true that Checker works only with .mp3 files, because this is the LV required format, there should be no problem using ReplayGain. It is an Audacity plugin, and I use it regularly to check .flac files After I get the reading, however, I always use the Amplification feature in Audacity to make the adjustments.
Of course all files eventually do have to be converted to .mp3 because that is the requirement for Audible [not Audible; you mean Internet Archive - Todd] where our LV projects are hosted.
Can any of this actually be detected by a listener? No.
So, draw your own conclusions.
