I never did get it through my head to export to mp3 first so I could check the volume before exporting to flac for the submission. . . I just left things the same way I had them for another project, and hoped the dBs were coming out OK over here.
Oh, my!
Well, if you export in .mp3 first, that defeats the whole purpose of using the .flac format.
Both .flac and .wav formats are "lossless," whereas .mp3 is a compressed format which means there is some loss in audio quality.
While it is true that Checker works only with .mp3 files, because this is the LV required format, there should be no problem using ReplayGain. It is an Audacity plugin, and I use it regularly to check .flac files After I get the reading, however, I always use the Amplification feature in Audacity to make the adjustments.
Of course all files eventually do have to be converted to .mp3 because that is the requirement for Audible [not Audible; you mean Internet Archive - Todd] where our LV projects are hosted.

Can any of this actually be detected by a listener? No.
So, draw your own conclusions.

@Larry: I don’t actually use the mp3 files, I just export the files to mp3 to check the volume first. I still have Audacity open and I make the adjustments in Audacity before exporting the original Audacity file to flac (no quality loss). I didn’t know about the ReplayGain plugin, however. I will definitely give that a try (sounds easier).

@MaryAnn: Thanks for the link to the ReplayGain plugin.

So I guess the real question is: in a vocal (speaking rather than singing) recording, if there is just one 're-save' in the Mp3 format, does it really make any difference at all? Between the test noted in my previous post (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=9084&p=132793&hilit=xerox#p132793), I guess the real question is, does it matter? Also considering the note above:

what is the advantage?

I hate to be a 'contraiest', but just a question/thought.

You're missing the last two lines
"Is your jailer gone?" and "I can work, then?"

Otherwise, it's PL OK:)

Kristin,

First of all, I can't believe I missed those I knew they were there and I am so sorry I took so long to correct them, but I was out of town.

It should have been such a quick and easy correction, but I can make easy things difficult :( .

I made the quick correction, and then uploaded it, but I then realized I 'corrected' the wrong file, I corrected 14 instead of 15  . I then went in and corrected both of them (subtracting unneeded/unwanted correction on 14 and adding needed correction on 15) and up loaded both of them. So here are the new uploads. I really hope that doesn't really mess you up on 14  .

Here's Max, Chapter 30:

(I just realized this is my first chapter, so I should probably include my voice credit -- don't remember if I already added it to another file. I'll check, and if not, I'll update this file).
