You do a great reading! Seriously, I am getting so excited right now, this is gonna be great! You pronounce all the names and everything perfect, except Edmund Dantes. Basically, all the way through the chapter you say Dantes wrong, but it's such a tiny difference that is doesn't matter. The two I have pointed out are the ones that it's a bit clearer. Also, Edmund.

I had to chuckle at the fact I was saying Dantes wrong throughout! I looked at the pronunciation guide and listened to previous recordings (even watched the film, you know, as research, of course! ) and still managed to get it wrong. I've recorded (what I hope) are corrections, based on everything I've heard, Dantes is pronounced "Dan-tess" as opposed to "Dan-tez" which I believe is where I was going wrong. I also can't believe I forgot to remove an edited segment!
Chapter Two is added as well.
As before, be brutal, if I'm still getting it wrong, let me know the inflection you need and I'll be happy to do it again. I want to get it spot-on!!

Hmm, I don't know how that work, I use audacity, and when you export it you can chose flac as an option. It's okay if you can't get it in flac, so if you can't figure out how to get it in flac, just send the mp3 file:)

I appreciate the thoroughness with which the lines are being PL'ed (I'm a word-perfect kind of person myself), but I'm finding it difficult to grasp when you'd like the "French-ified" pronunciation and when "plain old" English is ok. I'm feeling like anything outside the names has a 50/50 chance of being noted as needing re-recorded. For example, as an English speaker, I'd have normally read "patron" as "pay-trun," but as the book is originally French, I went with what I thought was the more appropriate "puh-trone."
Are we to stick with the English pronunciation for anything other than what's in the guide? The sheer volume of the work means that re-recording a word here and there is cumulatively time consuming, so having a better understanding of what you're expecting would certainly help.

Ahh, yes, I understand the confusion. Basically, it's supposed to be any names. Names of people, cities, boats, ranks, stuff like that. "patron" is, as far as I can tell, 'just' a word, not a name.

Alright, so this first Benedetto chapter is VERY short (0:50), but I wanted to ask your opinion on it, Kristin. So, here Benedetto is a child. Later, obviously, he is not. I was wondering if I should play with the pitch to distinguish, like what Beth (Elizabby) does when she reads male roles. I could throw it up a tone or two for the child-Benedetto lines, and take it down a bit from my natural voice for the adult ones. Or, if you prefer the sound, I could leave them all natural, and just try to sound more annoying when I'm a kid (which is basically what I did here--he sounds like a total brat).
P.S. I just read Chapter 56 (still need to edit--quite enjoying it!) and noticed what I believe to be an error in the text prep:
There are 3 lines in a row in pink (indicating that they should be mine), which I think are actually the Old Man's/Bartolomeo's. They are on p. 10 and start with "Certainly I do."
