Thanks, Todd
Well, there's Theocritus' "Battle of the Bards", if you consider this site to be kosher, LV-wise.
Play: https://www.one-act-plays.com/comedies/battle_of_the_bards.html
Site: https://www.one-act-plays.com/royalty_free_plays.html

There's also one by Euripides (full name "Euripides Eumendides") called "The Cyclops".

There's a rather whimsical, two-part, one-act play called "Yesterday" there that I wouldn't mind doing, if there is "A Certain Lady of Quality" who wants to play opposite "A British Officer, late of the Indian Army".

And the answer is that we'd do better to track down the original source at Archive or see if Gutenberg has it. In some cases, One-Act-Plays.com indicates what source we should be looking for, which is nice of them.

Here's a one act play from an Australian playwright cut off in his prime ... KIA in the Ypres Salient in 1918.

It's called "Anchored - A Dramatic Incident in a College": https://archive.org/details/fourplays00step/page/n135/mode/2up
Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_Consett_Stephen

I'd like to learn how to BC and edit. Here's the play I'm nominating for the current one act collection --

“An Irish Engagement”
1848, London: S.G. Fairbrother

https://www.google.com/books/edition/An_Irish_Engagement/jQR8fBMsKmUC?hl=en&gbpv=1

The playwright is Walter Watts (1817-1850) . There's no Wikipedia entry for him, but here's a couple webpages on his life and the original production of this play

Would that suffice?

We are getting a number of new people joining LibriVox these days, and it would be nice to have more plays running so there would be more roles to read. But my signature line is full - I take that as a warning to myself that I really should not take on more plays now myself. However, if anyone else wants to run something, I’ll be glad to help out. We have a lot of good selections listed in the last few pages of this forum....

Another possibility for ideas of plays to run is to look at making new versions of old favorites. Shakespeare 2020 perhaps?

Or maybe even shorter dramatic collections. I can’t get the current One Act Play collection filled up, but maybe there would be interest in some simpler collections that don’t need editing of material from multiple readers. Howsabout a Shakespeare Monologue Collection (actually I think is we have had some before so this would be another offering with new readers, new selections).

Thanks, Todd

Actually we have 14 Shakespeare monologue collections, so I guess having 15 would be fine!

Just a couple of sections yet to be claimed in the current One Act Play collection and then I'll be offering another one.

Thanks, Todd

When the next one-act play collection launches, I'd love to BC my first play in it. In particular, I'd like to BC "England's Easter" by George Logan. I posted about it in the "Play Suggestions" thread and Sonia recommended I contribute it to the next one-act play collection.

Hiya!

Was this the play written in 2012? If so, we can't do it, as it is still under copyright (and will be for a long, long time). We only record works whose copyright has expired.
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
Humor: My Lady Nicotine

I have opened a 14th One Act Play collection. Please post your selections there if you really want to run one.

Each BC needs to provide the following information about each play:

* Title and author
* PD text link
* Link to author on Wikipedia, and death date, if known
* Link to title on Wikipedia
* Number of roles (including narrator) this project will have
* Original publication date
* The list of characters in your plays so when we have a MW I can set up your sections properly!

Thanks, Todd
