Unless someone is actually, imminently going to make it into a DR, I don't want to pursue finding a PD text. Heck - I'm prudish, so I wouldn't want to be the one to pursue finding a PD text anyway. At this point it's just a suggestion, correct? So we could cross the "where's a text" bridge if and when we come to it. (Unless someone else wants to put in research to find one, that is.)
Yep, this is just a suggestion  most of the text can probably be read by one person - there are maybe about 4 dialogues and a few poems that could conceivably be converted to DRs, but that's it. All hypothetical, of course! :P

This would be a monumental project, but...

If anyone ever ever ever would like to do Varney the Vampire as a DR, I'd love to narrate.

I know we already have it as a 3-volume series in the catalogue:

This is enormous! The three volumes come out over 60 hours of recorded time! How much of that would be narration?

It would take a truly intrepid person to put this together. And, from what I've seen of large DR's, this would be a multi-year project. I had a part in a DR fast approaching its 5-year anniversary that still is not completed. . . . .

Surely good DRs need books with a good percentage of conversation. At random I picked chapter VI of the first volume and found
"The money is -- -- " (writing on pocket book)

"The money is not," spoken by the family lawyer And that was it.
Now this may not be typical but by chapter VI I thought they would be into the story. But at that rate it would be hard to justify. And I'm not prepared waste time trying other chapters

It occurred to me because as I glanced further on, I saw that Chapter II -- and II, and IV, and V -- were at least 2/3 dialogue.
I didn't get to Chapter VI... Go figure.
