Don Fernando (what a fine elastic set of morals he has!) and the 2nd Officer are both PL OK. Glad you were able to handle those f's for s's!

(Note for Don - I realize now that what I had originally labeled as Act 2 actually takes place in Act 3, and I changed the section name. Don't worry about the file name - I changed my copy when I downloaded it to my computer.)

Thanks, Todd

Todd,

Yes, Don Fernando stood firm on his beliefs! :)

The script was a bit of a challenge due to its poor quality of copy but I am thrilled I got through it without any issues!

Thank you!

Sorry to do this, but after further consideration I realize that Sancho is rather too large a role for me to tackle at the moment.

I am sure that there would be many readers able and willing to take on this role.

Cheers

Here is Sancho Panco act 1:
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/comicalhistorypart1_sanchopanca_1.mp3 at 16 minutes and two smidgeons.

In addition to the normal PL, I would appreciate any other feedback the PL is willing to give me.

Adrian Stephens

Noted! I'll have a quick listen now, and sit down to compare with the script in 10-12 hours. You got this in fast!

I love your voice as Sancho, and I really can't wait to hear this byplay between you and your wife especially, and the Don himself, for that matter!

In the spirit of your request for extra feedback, I can send a private message tomorrow with some further notes if you would like them - either technical or stylistic. But I'll stress that A) the fixes below will get this to pass standard PL and then some, and B) it's already an enjoyable and well-characterized reading as-is. The extra notes are approached with the most critical ear I can, the way I edit some of my recordings when I'm actively trying to find ways to improve.

Here are PL notes for Sancho in Act 1, which I've written as if the PL were "word-perfect", or nearly so, rather than "standard".

pg19@14:05, line beginning with "Wowns, thou shalt be a countess", "Don Whirligigario" is missing that final "i". This is probably optional too, but I mention it for consistency only because it's a proper noun.
pg19@13:13, line beginning with "And his Dam, there, will have thee", I think the word he later says is "she'll be damning herself to clouted shoes", which apparently means that they're plated with iron. I mention this because that seems to imply she'd be poor, where "colored" shoes might imply the opposite.
OPTIONAL, pg17@10:52, in "Why how now crooked rib", I hear "cook-ed". Both ways convey the sense of an insult, though not one I'd know any nuances of.
OPTIONAL, pg17@10:34, line beginning with "Ay, that's my Daughter too", the text really does say, "with a design to my surprise wife", but I think that's a typo. If you wanted to replace that with "to surprise my wife", that seems more correct to me.
pg12@05:47, line beginning with "Ay, and pray, Sir," in "methinks he promises it with as much confidence", I hear "it" instead of "he". I mention this because "he" here refers to Don Quixote, so it tells the listener something about Sancho's impression of the Don's words. The other reading would make it one of Sancho's own ideas that makes confident promises to him, which says something else about Sancho himself.
OPTIONAL, same line @05:43, "this plaguy government", "plaguy" could use a harder "g". Definitely not standard PL.
OPTIONAL, pg10@01:27, in the Aside after line beginning with "If the conference were to be", I hear "Now am I to be fed with a tedious Taste of Knight-Errantry". This makes sense with the metaphor and the word is certainly smudged, but the word might also be "Tale"... mostly because I can't find a "t". That letter really does look like it like an "f", though. I might mention it in standard PL, but the choice is certainly yours, and either way is a fair and good call.

yes you can well chuckle, you are probably counting your blessings that it's not you that plays Sancho.

Here's Teresa the shrew. Veering between chiding her husband and daughter and struggling with bouts of hysteria.

Right in the first quote one of the letters looked like a long s to me so I said "soundered" although I feel "foundered" may be more fitting here. But maybe there is a connotation with the word soundered that I am unfamiliar with. If you think it should be an 'f' then I'll change it.

I'll PL this in a few hours, and be sure to offer my opinion on that line, take or leave.
You'll notice I did more than standard PL for Adrian's, I hope in the way he was requesting. Any notes I have for you, aside from missing lines, will probably be optional!
