Yes, thank you very much :)

(If you would like to double any of the roles in chapter 9, you're welcome to claim any of those except Young Irving)

Excellent! Thanks, Sharpe family. Let me know when he has a forum name (and what he wants us to use on the Reader Page we generate for him)

Not sure how it would work exactly, but definitely looking for more exposure and request in the near future. Also, one last thing. Been thinking about trying out for ACX as a side hustle. They, along with other professional audiobook narration sites, want you to produce your content. What exactly goes into audiobook narration production? Thank you again.

Thanks! John Moon ch. 10 is PL OK

Before you step away from this project, I have two PL Notes that would like a little attention:
  • Chapter 14 has an extra line in it. At 0:42, "That's the jolliest play I've ever seen" - is actually a Nicholas line.
Would you mind cutting that out and then re-export to mp3, and then upload the edited file? Thanks :) That will greatly help the final-chapter editing process.
  • On the Chapter 2 file, could you paste this bit onto the line that starts at 0:31.5 - it needs "(Trench Munitions)" added in, which is part of the text rather than an editorial comment. :)
From the book: I drove TM (trench munitions) over the same road you took to the Chemin des Dames.

Now, for the other topic in your post -

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking in regards to audiobook narration production - I've never done anything but LibriVox work, so that's all I can share about. Thinking of your need to produce a portfolio to be able to follow your desire to break into professional audiobook reading, I think the next step from here would be this:

You've done a good number of sections successfully in this project, so you can do your own solo book now. I'd recommend browsing around in Project Gutenberg to find a public domain book that looks interesting to you. Then you can go to the New Projects Launch Pad discussion board here in LibriVox, and use the sticky note to set up your request to do that solo. Once you get that properly posted in the Launch Pad, you just wait for an MC to pick it up. Then you can start recording.

I would soak up all the tutorials you can about using the Audacity software to record and edit files. One thing you can try now is learning to do the "punch in" on Audacity for that trench munitions bit in chapter 2. Just google it, and you'll find several tutorials in written and video form. That's a professional level approach to the edit. I will typically do something not quite as detailed as that, but for someone wanting to do paid recording, you'll need to be handy with that level of work, and chapter 2 of this character is the PERFECT first-time practice material for that skill. :)

Now, as far as how your solo gets produced: Once it's activated by an MC, you do your recordings chapter by chapter, and a dedicated prooflistener will check them for you. Once all your chapters are recorded and marked PL OK by your prooflistener, the MC will do their back-of-the-scenes voodoo magic that creates a live audiobook that is housed on Archive.org and linked within LibriVox (and any other application that picks up LibriVox audiobooks). You'll be able to collect the URLs of any of your audiobooks to gather into a portfolio.

Oh! As a soloist, you can choose to make your own audiobook cover (there's a board for that, which has a sticky note describing all the specifications) - or you can just let the audiobook ride through the system and get a cover made by the team of folks who loves doing those. It happens automatically unless you post a preclaim shortly before finishing the recording, to do your own solo book's cover.

One of the books I'm DPL'ing for someone (Dedicated Proof Listener) is almost finished, so if you want to start a solo and would like me to DPL for you, just send me a message. Unless I'm on vacation, or get a freaky huge slam from a lot of people having time on their hands all at once, I proof files within 36 hours. And if you remind me that you're interested in going pro with book recording, I'll give you more detailed feedback than the typical LibriVox response is supposed to be.
I would like that very much. I will re-record the shunned house, (Got a new mike for Christmas) and as for the full book, was thinking of two new additions to PD land. Either Winne the Pooh or Bambi.
