Got John Moon Chapter 5. Hopefully the levels sounds more consistent this time. Precise Mic placement is a pain.

John Moon ch. 5 is PL OK :thumbs:

and that one most certainly has more in it than all his other chapters combined!

Getting really close to finding an ideal distance/recording volume combo for your voice. This one comes through a little too loud (but no need to edit it now, as it'll get handled by the final-chapter editor, anyway to normalize with the accompanying files)

I would try either backing up about 1 inch, or bumping the recording volume down a couple of notches, and you should be there!

What a fantastic Ben Star! Thanks so much, Medora. :)

I have these PL Notes for you:

The decibels are very low on this file. It does not need to be fixed here, since the editing during chapter assembly will take care of it, but you will need to raise the recording volume for future recordings. (This file's decibels are only 73, and for LibriVox, files need to be between 86 and 92). You can tell, while recording, if your volume is in the right ballpark by looking at how tall the waveforms are - they will be about as tall, or a little bigger, as the .5 marks above and below the 0 at the left of the soundtrack. (You don't want the waves to peg against the top and bottom of the track)

For your next recording, bump up the recording volume a bit and see how the forms look - maybe you'll need to bump it up a little more, or back down a smidge. :)

Ben is missing one line - can you please record this on a pickup file? I'm pasting some context below so you can see how it fits in. The file can be named: nicholasdr_benstar13_supp

``````````
Before they went to bed that night, Ann Caraway read “The Skeleton in Armor” and “The Saga of King Olaf ” to Nicholas and Ben and sent them sailing away into the White North.
Ben Star: “I never knew that Longfellow wrote such nice ghost stories,”
Narrator: said Ben.
Nicholas: “The Troll would love them,”
Narrator: said Nicholas.
here is my missing line! :D
Thanks, Medora! This is PL OK :thumbs:
Hey, if you'd like to do more, you could also claim a spot for the children's choir, and/or any of the animals that haven't been claimed yet.
(p.s. recording volume does still need to be quite a bit louder)
My daughter didn't tell me there'd be singing! I did my best. :) I could redo it with feedback, if it's not what you need.
