Kalamareader wrote: July 14th, 2021, 3:45 pm Hi there Chris,

I haven't done Stage Directions for a while, and this one sound like fun, but boy, the playwright (A person who writes plays is a playwright, not a playwrite, but the act of writing plays is usually spelled playwriting. The wright in the compound noun playwright is a little-used word referring to one who constructs or repairs something. It also appears in shipwright, which refers to a person who builds ships.) certainly is a wordy son-of-a-gun .

Thanks,

Wayne

edit: If I get this, I have one question (at least for now, more may come later), are we pronouncing Miss Treable like Treble, as in Treble Cleff?
Hi there,

I have a problem/question I have run across in Act I as I am doing the Stage Directions. There is a line there which doesn't make any sense at all. Since there are no page numbers, etc. in this, I figured the best way to let you know where it is is by giving it to you and then you can do a "find on this page" search, and let me know what you want me to do with it. The line is:
"B goes up to door left". I can not figure out who "B" is supposed to be. So to a listener it would seem to make them more lost than they might otherwise be.

Awaiting your inspired direction.

It just dawned on me, that I will just send it to you and you can do what ever you want with that line.

And here the Stage Directions for Act II.

https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/mollentraveonwomen_directions_2.mp3

Time ~18 minutes.

In this Act as well, there is something that I think needs mentioning. In the setting of the scene for Act II, here is what it says:

(The drawing-room of Mr. Mollentrave's house in Cadogan Square. At back L. door leads to an inner room. Mollentrave is seated glancing over proof-sheets. Suddenly he calls "Mr. Dexter!" Dexter enters from the inner room up L.)

So I don't know if you want Mollentrave to say these words (bold ones). I said them, but did it so it would be easy to delete mine and insert Mollentrave himself saying them.
