I am so tempted to listen to this, but I will save first hearing for Sonia. (She handles all the female servants, you know.)SonOfTheExiles wrote: ↑April 20th, 2018, 5:23 pm Here's the Parlourmaid: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/playgoers_parlourmaid_pinero.mp3

Thanks, Todd
my mouth dropped open when I heard your first sentence. I didn't expect you high-pitching it that much. Especially because your voice credit was your usual colonel self. Must have been a strain on your vocal chords throughout, I should guess.SonOfTheExiles wrote: ↑April 20th, 2018, 5:23 pm Here's the Parlourmaid: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/playgoers_parlourmaid_pinero.mp3
Well, what can I say, you play her to perfection: a bit blazé and thinking (too) highly of herself. All the parts are in, and no errors found. So textually this is all PL ok. Hearing this voice now for 6 minutes in a row was starting to creep me out a bit but interspersed throughout the play, I'm sure it will make a great (startling) effect.
thank you dear. After hearing our parlourmaid, I took the decision to forbid her to bring my daily mail into my bedroom in the morning. For some unfathomable reason, I don't really feel comfortable with her rummaging around when I'm still in my morning gown. I will have the Useful Maid do this task for the time being (if only she could stop crying for five minutes ).I am so tempted to listen to this, but I will save first hearing for Sonia. (She handles all the female servants, you know.)
Sonia
PS I also put my Kashiku and Baroness von Brook in the MW, since I fear they keep getting overlooked.

So, with the Parlourmaid role, have I achieved that metrotextuality thing I keep hearing people talking about?
Cheers,

well you are surely ready to register into a jillaroo school now (now you probably wished you had never told me about this place )SonOfTheExiles wrote: ↑April 21st, 2018, 3:59 pm So, with the Parlourmaid role, have I achieved that metrotextuality thing I keep hearing people talking about?

“Jackaroo” and “Jillaroo” are the Australian equivalents of “Cowboy” and “Cowgirl”.
With a lot of the young men on the land leaving for lucrative jobs in the mining industry in recent years, the sheep and cattle “stations” (think “ranches”) are willing these days to take on female agricultural workers if they can prove they’ve got what it takes. These jillaroo schools are one way to find out.

aww you're so mean to the poor kitchenmaid, Linda. No wonder nobody yet dared to apply for the role
Excellently played, and I love the accent you're doing. I have a question: I understood everything she was saying, apart from this "fus'-clars servants" near the end. What does that mean ? I am racking my brain to find a word that may fit but I can't think of one.
You only missed two lines, the rest was perfect:
> at about 0:07: (p. 13): “Good mornin’, m’m.”
> at about 0:39: (p. 18): “I mealy arst.”
thanks so much
Sonia

indeed this has been overlooked, sorry about that. There was so much discussion back then, it must have slipped the net. I'll sign her up for both parts now Thanks. Looking forward to listening to Jasmin.benderca wrote: ↑April 23rd, 2018, 3:20 am My daughter Jasmin can read:
