Peruse
It used to mean to read thoroughly and carefully, but then it started being used sarcastically ("Sure, I perused my textbook for class!") which eventually led to folks using the sarcastic definition earnestly, and now it has both meanings, which makes it very difficult to use well.

An artist, some of whose projects represent carvings on books: http://www.guylaramee.com/
Wow! Fascinating art, and thought provoking commentaries.
Thank you

The video of the cat paddling around in a lifejacket is amusing, but the accompanying commentary, as the journalist fails to control a fit of the giggles, is even funnier:

Hasn't it been said that one of the main activities on the Net is exchanging amusing cat pictures and videos?
I also got sent this one of a cat slapping a crocodile on the snout:

Merged the cat thread in with the "Der Spam" thread, as this is a great thread in which to share those random links found in the wide world of the Internet.

A government, company, etc can know all the things that you do on the internet. To prevent that use Tor :
https://www.torproject.org/
Tor is a free program. Many people know that in places like China, Iran, etc there are systems of internet censorship and surveillance, but what most people don't know is that in freer countries such as the USA, UK, France, etc internet censorship and surveillance also exist. People in China use Tor to avoid internet censorship and surveillance. It is also being increasingly used in the USA.
Tor is very easy to install. You can install it on your computer or install it on a USB flash drive that you can carry and use everywhere.
It works on Windows, Mac and even mobiles like Android and iOS.

If my government are spying on my computer, I trust that it is for a good reason. Quite frankly, I'd rather sleep easily in the knowledge that they're keeping me safe than download something when I have nothing to hide

TriciaG I don't think my thread should be in the Spam Heap, else I would have put it there myself. Should I change something so that it returns to the Off-Topic section again. Feel free to PM me if you want.[Merged into the Spam Heap thread. TriciaG]

This is the only way I can satisfy my craving to have my own cat.

Oops, I realized after I put this up it should have gone into the spam folder. Could a mod move it for me please? Sorry for the trouble.
