On the matter of accents, I recorded some lines for a DR play the other day, using a broad, rather sinister-sounding Australian accent. Some hilarity ensued during PLing when, due to my accent, T.J. heard me say one word when I was actually saying another one entirely.
In the spirit of fun, what do you hear in the following mp3 clip? I swear I'm saying "This is Slagle speaking. Hell of a note, isn't it?", however T.J. hears "This is Slagle speaking. Hell of a night, isn't it?"

I hear "Hell of a night". And that you're channelling Gollum...

I hear "night" too, Chris. It might be in the ear of the listener. If you're accustomed to the accent, you hear one thing, if not, another. Ask me again after I listen to the audiobook of The Dry.

The words here, still spoken in the same characterisation, are "Note, Night, Knot".

Kath & Kim, if they mean anything to you, are said to pronounce "nice" as "noice".
