Silly question Friday - Length of recordings

Everything except LibriVox (yes, this is where knitting gets discussed. Now includes non-LV Volunteers Wanted projects)

I often find that my gauging of another's recording is one second longer than that which they have placed along with their submission.

Is this an Einsteinian phenomenon?

I used to add the second to the Notes section in the MW, but now I'm not so sure.

I've noticed that different software notes a different time. Windows and Checker/Audacity sometimes don't agree.

One second plus or minus doesn't matter at cataloging time. A reader giving the time not including the final 5 seconds? That's a pain.

Yes, it probably depends upon the recorder's and PLer's positions on the Earth relative to the server, rotation wise. :D

This leads us of course to whether or not Elon Musk will allow recordings for LibriVox from a Earth low-orbit. I wonder whom we should write.
