While there are many excellent free on-line resources, I'd just like to point out that "The Book of Audacity" by Carla Schroder (No Starch Press) is, for the next 19 days, included in the $1 level of this "HumbleBundle":

HumbleBundle do "bundles" of games and books, I only visit them for their book bundles. Generally No Starch Press is a solid publisher for technical books. (The quality of the book bundles on HumbleBundle varies with the publisher; not all are that good.) You can get more or less content, depending on how much you spend ($1, $8 or $15) and you can decide how much of that goes to charities. The Electronic Frontier Foundation is one of the charities for the bundle above.

I haven't read "The Book of Audacity" fully yet, but browsing through it, it looks good. It is from 2011, though; so we can't expect up-to-date details, more general workflow tutorials.

Looks like all the books are for Linux.

Most other books in the bundle are about Linux and BSD, yes; there are also a few for multi-platform graphics applications like GIMP and Inkscape. The Audacity book is for all platforms (though its author is a veteran journalist in the Linux world). The book contains a narrow chapter (12 pages) about "Configuring Windows for best audio quality". Given its age, "Windows" means here XP SP3, Vista, or 7.
