Everything except LibriVox (yes, this is where knitting gets discussed. Now includes non-LV Volunteers Wanted projects)

Any book recommendations, particularly Gothic or Bildungsroman pieces? On or off LibriVox is fine! Thanks in advance!

We do have a forum called Book Suggestions, which is below the LV faq, and above the new projects launch pad. If your looking for projects you wish to do or need suggestions on, then you may want to post this there. :D <smile>

I think this is for listening, not for recording. :) I'll change the topic title to reflect that.

While usually Book Suggestions is a good place for such a topic, since the OP is asking for LV and non-LV works, I think it fits best here. :hmm:

I assume you've done Jane Eyre?

The Chartreuse of Parma might be a good one. The LV version has a review at Archive: https://archive.org/details/chartreuse_parma_1307_librivox

Jacob's Room is tagged as a bildungsroman story. Two versions: https://librivox.org/search?q=jacob%20room&search_form=advanced

Better Angel is also labeled as such, and appears to be a LGBTQ story: https://archive.org/details/better_angel_1002_librivox

Final suggestion from a search on the term: Demian. https://librivox.org/demian-the-story-of-emil-sinclairs-youth-by-hermann-hesse/

Hope this helps!

I was curious about Bildungsroman, and did a little searching. There's a page on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bildungsroman

I went through their list of titles and found that we have recorded nearly all those that are available to us.

Oh wow!!! Who knew Wikipedia could be so helpful? Thank y'all! Tricia G, your assumption was correct! I am not-so-secretly hoping that one of these works will at least vaguely resemble Jane Eyre, if only by genre.
