It would be more realistic if it walked over your keyboard

My previous cat was inclined to escape. We didn't have a screen door and lived at the edge of the woods. The first time I was very worried but after that I just waited. She always came home to use her litter box.

My cat, Isabeau, is currently profoundly peeved at me for making the weather dive from 75F to -1 degree. This gorgeous, silky-fluffy Freaky Diva Chick (a blue-point ragdoll) keeps sneaky-sidling up behind me to smack me with all her might before tearing off again. She's never done this before.

Her "brother," Navarre (black shorthair mutt), seems as entertained by her crazy behavior as I am. He just watches from the crumpled quilt he's hunkered down on for warmth.

Well, clearly the drop in temperature is all your doing. After all, you are mighty "thumbs" and can produce cans of wet food... Who knows what else you can do.

Also: Ladyhawke... :9:

Haha! Yes!

I can't be the only one who's had a cat who thought their All-Powerful Person could turn off the rain. Thanks for triggering that fun memory of old Bear. :)

Hi all,

I wanted to let you know that this thread really warmed my heart. Just yesterday, I lost Mac, my dear friend of 16 years, but sharing in your cat stories helped me reflect on the great times he and I had together. He was a sweetheart who would purr at the drop of a hat - in fact, if you go to the site in the first post, you can (almost) hear him on the right settings (34/20/0/25/60/0).

Many thanks,
Steve

So sorry. I know how much that can hurt.

Aw, darn it, Steve. It's so very hard to lose our fur friends/family. They sure do hold our hearts. Rest sweetly, Steve's Mac.

I've just come from a nap with my cat at my side. I cannot easily imagine time without him. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Thanks all for the kind words. This really is a wonderful community.

But back to happier thoughts - more stories about your lovely kitties, please! :)

My kitties both had a doctor's appointment this past week. They were overdue on their shots. And though they begged and cajoled, cried and pleaded, though they fought with might and main to escape the dreaded Needle, nonetheless it found them both. And thus they received new tags and came back home, knowing within themselves that once again, the Needle, and those with Thumbs who wielded it, had prevailed against them. They now nurse their wounds, and vow retribution. Perhaps not today. Perhaps not tomorrow. Perhaps not in the form of knocking an Irreplaceable Fragile Object from a height. But they haven't ruled it out yet...

To Be Continued...

So - We have two cats who have recently entered the prime of life. They are Navarre and Isabeau. Navarre is a silky short-hair black man cat, and Isabeau is a delicate, fluffy blue-point Ragdoll lady. (She's also a freaky diva chick, for sure! She has a wandering eye, and not being able to track moving things well at all has profoundly affected her personality. It's interesting at times to watch her inner struggle between the constant alert she lives in and the strong affection that her Ragdoll genes carry.)

These two were acquired within a month of each other, in a purposefully chosen color and sex scheme to be a named pair after the 1980s movie, "Ladyhawk." We're not rabid fans of the movie, although it is one of our old favorites. We just thought the name potential was superb when we wanted to get a pair of kittens. If you're familiar with that movie, you'll know why it was consumately perfect that on the way home from the Humane Society, sitting on my lap in the car, little Navarre threw his head back and did a classic howl-at-the-moon. 8-)
