That's funny - I've never had a problem with this word, but I have heard others struggle with it. Pih-CUE-lir-lee (more or less - peculiar with a LEE on the end) :hmm:

Another one I don't have a problem with but others do is "indefatigably". *shrug*

Oops! It was incorporealness. But just now I've got "peculiar virulence." I hope it finally came out okay, and if not...

Ah, I see. I had "incorporeity" the other day. Pretty close.

I’m no Ioan Gruffudd, but if we ever do the Hornblower series, I’ll gladly voice-coach the Librivox crew of HMS Indefatigable in the name of their ship.

P.S. “Indefatigable” may be tricky to say, but it’s way cooler than naming one’s ship after your mother-in-law... https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcRZKsBkCDOfXjwrds8fvNGrRnJ9OVryM6sC1g&usqp=CAU

I recall the first time I came across that word. I read it as “train sub-station”. As luck would have it, British Rail had me at the Canterbury Station at the time, but my train of thought was definitely a runaway by that juncture.

Oh my, yes! It really isn't very readable. Don't ask why, but I read "transhumance", not the same. at. all!

Gasped.
This popped up at least 5 times in one recording session.
It was harder to say each time -- multiple tries on each one.
And I particularly loved having to say "...gasped the perspiring clerk."

It gives me a mental image of some guy in front of a giant sized map of the stars, running back and forth with a pointer, stating: “Not At THAT point in time, (running over to a different area of the map,) “But at THIS point in time.” Apparently the words “then” and “now” were removed from the dictionary. :?
I like that image! A little pointer guy!

Once worked with a parts interpreter who at any meeting would preface discussion of a planned action with the words, "Going forward..."

Well, he used to. He kinda got out of the habit after the time I interjected with "Thanks for ruling out time-travel, mate."

Only the cricketing nations will understand this next one, but when someone is carelessly blocking your view of a whiteboard or such at the front of the room, it helps to say loudly, "Mister Umpire, could the sight-screen please be moved one metre to the right?"

Not really a word, but...
It's very annoying to have to fill in the blank for a year (e.g., "we moved to the area in 18____") or a place (e.g., "we had lived in _____shire for many years").
I won't say "blank" (as some suggest) because I think that sounds dumb.
And it sounds almost as dumb to make the blank a mumbled filler (e.g., "we moved to the area in 18mmm") -- which is what I do, because it doesn't sound quite as dumb as saying "blank."
