Malaproprisms. A leading speaker (known to be inclined to over-refreshed garrulity) in one or other of the political parties was once introduced at a fundraising meeting in a Scottish constituency by the local constituency chairman with the words "Ah've had a word with Mr. Broon. He tells me he's nae gunna mek a long speech, and he's nae gunna mek a short speech. He's gunna mek a mediocre speech."
