What does Mr Green actually do?

Perhaps it signals:
A). An Irish joke.
B). A potential violation of the 10th Commandment.
C). You're approaching someone from the starboard side.
On the matter of that last one, if you've ever wondered why the Klingons always seem to attack the Starship Enterprise from the starboard bow, it's because, if they attack from the port side, they see the red light and come to a halt.

Encore!I think it might be C. I think you made the other 2 up.
So does the Cap'n know this and if so why doesn't he do some online shopping and get himself another red light for the starboard bow?
