Either I haven't looked hard enough or there's no particular thread dedicated to the discussion of romances ... :(

I looooooooooov romances.
Total romantic

For most of my life (LOL) I've been Mrs Darcy (need I say ... PnP) but I've lately thought I could be Patricia Brent, not Jane Eyre cos the road to bliss was a bit too hard lololol ... but where are all the other romantics???? :D

So, I've listened to all the Jane Austen's (is there anyone who hasn't)
and apart from Patricia Brent, I've also done Woman In White and Jane Eyre ... what else IYO is really really good romance??

If you haven't listened yet to The Rosary by Florence Louisa Barclay... go quick and listen and swoon: http://librivox.org/the-rosary-by-florence-louisa-barclay/

Speaking of swooning.... A Sicilian Romance by Ann Radcliffe is a good fit too: http://librivox.org/a-sicilian-romance-by-ann-radcliffe/

Oh My Goodness!!!! Definitely SWOON-worthy ha ha ha ha.
I loved the Rosary!!! Beautiful story!!! thanx for the suggestion.

I'm going onto your next suggestion.

Before the Rosary I listened to The Awakening ... interesting.

I've also done Wilkie Collins ... The MoonStone ... very interesting.

I also have on my download list:

- Black Moth
- Evelina
- Glimpses of the Moon
- Litle Women (trying to get in all the "classics" :) )
- Lorna Doone (ditto???)
- Villette
- Heart of the World

I can never decide at the beginning which one will be best ofr me to listen to next lolol so I end up downloading a couple of chapters of each!!!

Your own suggestions, thoughts and experiences of books and readers is most welcome as is everyone's!!

Thanx!
Mex.

It was a truly lovely read and also quite funny at times.

The Summary???

I think I've seen a discussion somewhere in the forums on the issues with the Wiki summaries and I think I'm beginning to appreciate the challenge a little more, in the past I had only been downloading Jane Austen and since those were stories that I had read repeatedly on my own, it wasn't really a problem for me how they were presented in the Summary but with these new stories that I'm reading I'm finding the benefit of having a well written summary that doesn't give too much away. Since we're all volunteers I would say if you read/listen to the book and you can give a better summary maybe you should PM it to the Reader?Editor? Forum Admin? that way we can all pitch in and help.

Patricia Brent, Spinster by Herbert Jenkins http://librivox.org/patricia-brent-spinster-by-herbert-jenkins/ ....it made the palms of my hands tingle. Such a funny little mix up and so predictable, but so sweet and charming.

I don't recall who recommended this one to me, but it is a lovely romance with a mild adventure/mystery...

At the Time Appointed by Anna Maynard Barbour http://librivox.org/at-the-time-appointed-by-anna-maynard-barbour/

Enjoy!
