I got myself a Zoom H2 to celebrate another occasion, but a week of mucking about with it has left the H2 in its box since then. Does it only work with Windows? I cannot get the sound files I record in the field to be recognized on my Mac. Any suggestions?

Naturally I went to Google to look up the "recording toy" and noticed this:
.
.

Samson - Zoom - H2
Please note: The Zoom H2 will not mount as a USB Drive on MAC OS X 10.5.0 Leopard unless you update to H2 Firmware version 1.2 or higher. ...

I don't know what it all means but hoped it might help. Laura

And if you have a memory card reader, you should be able to remove the card from the Zoom and use the reader instead.

Denny, a Google search came up with this page:

http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1916

If you scroll down a bit, there's a gray box indicating a link to a required firmware update in order for the H2 to work with Leopard 10.5.

I'd like to have a try with this but... isn't the presence of removable AA batteries a main let down? I mean nowadays all these little portable devices have their own lithium battery. I know you shall bring the charger along but on the other side it sounds a lot more comfortable and handy to me than fumbling with rechargeable(or not) AA batteries(on and off, and checking if it's charged and whatever else, bah), I always hated to do those things.
So, is it? Or you're quite comfortable even with those?

I have two standard AA batteries in mine, but have not used it much in that way. AC power is connected when recording. And I use USB port to power it when transferring files to the PC from the H2's data folder. 8-)

aaah I didn't know that it was AC power pluggable!
Well that makes a difference for me!

thanks for pointing that out!
