Does anyone here do photography? If you do, what is your favorite thing to photograph? Would you share photos?

I'm just a novice but I love photography. I love taking photos of about every kind of subject albeit I love Macro and Nature best. I've beeen serious about photography for about 2 years now.

My all-time best catch was of a very peaceful-looking inner courtyard of a house in Rhodes, Greece. It had a kind of burglar-bar style wrought-iron door, and in the middle of the door was a metal plate that had a large cutout of a cross in it. I shot the courtyard through the cross cut-out in the plate, focusing on the courtyard, so that the cross was a fuzzy outline framing the courtyard. Don't know where the slide went to, though, in all of the moves since then. :(

My favorite part was the developing and printing of my own black-and-white photos. I was an Army brat, and the post craft centers always had photo labs where you could develop and print black-and-white film...all you had to do was provide the film and photo paper, or buy it from the lab. You could also develop and mount Ektachrome slide film there, as well, but that was much trickier...I mean, plus or minus a half a degree for the entire developing time? In a manual developing tank?

Hi Esky,
Those are good pics, here's a Train Simulator thread with a whole bunch of trackside pictures
http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=11972

(I sort of faded away from there since I discovered VibriVox  )

I mainly take family photos and general photography when I get the urge.

edit: Your railway post finally got me to repost some of my albums from a defunct photo site, here they are for your amusement...

Jami,

You may want to try your hand at maintaining a City Daily Photo Blog of your town.

http://citydailyphoto.com/portal/index.php

Some of them are excellent photographers, but it all depends on what kind of style you like.

Ystad by Fredrik
Hanoi by Jerome
Minneapolis by Dusty Lens
Brookville by Abraham Lincoln
Monte Carlo by Jilly and
Buenos Aires by Alejandro
are all good. Mine is Willits.

Wow Esky! Very nice! I haven't been able to capture a train. Can never find one sitting still!

Erin, I have many hobbies other than LibriVox.

Paul, Sounds like a very beautiful photo! I don't think I'll ever make it to the point of developing my own. I like digital. lol

Aradlaw, Great photos! I love this one. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3112/2761440780_182da95d51.jpg?v=0

I'll have to check out the City Daily Photo Blog. Maybe look into doing it later this year.

You can view some of my photos here. http://public.fotki.com/novicephotographer/
There aren't many, this are a few that were lost on the hard drive. I'm still hoping dad will try to get them off again. He tried but the computer (our game computer) locked up on him.

On Saturday, I took my camera to work (I drive streetcars in Toronto, Ontario, I took that other shot a couple of years ago) and so happened that there was a group of railfans sitting on the Bathurst St. bridge from 6am until 1pm or so, waiting to 'capture' passing trains. They don't usually pose

edit: Here is a video of that day's driving, taken early before it got busy..
