Favourite Film of all Time

What are the LV'ers fave films?
A few of restrictions. No film from the last 12 months (to avoid the latest buzz ) and no film series such as H.Potter or LOTR. I'm only interested in single films that stand alone. Your only allowed 1 film.
Mine is "The Goodbye Girl".
Whats yours?
Edit : The 1977 version, not the 2004 remake!

Although I'd go for
"Pride and Prejudice" (the BBC mini-series. Isn't it a film as such?).

Oh, Kara, what a great choice! That's one among my favorites.
I can't choose just one---vintage films are such an important part of my life and my husband's, and some of my all-time favorites just aren't available on video or cable. It would be difficult to even choose a top five or ten!
We both love a little-known Oscar-winning Christmas short that is available on video (it's an extra on the "Christmas in Connecticut" DVD): "Star in the Night" (1945). Try to see it during the holiday season if you can!

Oh, man. Just one and not LOTR or HP? Hmmmm...that is difficult. If I judge by the number of times I have watched a movie outside of those two series, it would have to be either The Royal Tenenbaums or Shakespeare in Love, so I'll go with Shakespeare in Love.

It's hard to choose just one. There are a handful that I can watch over and over and love every time: Pride and Prejudice (the six hour BBC version); Twelfth Night (the Trevor Nunn version); Desk Set (really need to get this on dvd); How to Steal a Million; Princess Bride...

An old, old film and light weight/hearted but I can still watch it with pleasure:- Coward's 'Blithe Spirit' with Rex Harrison as Charles Condamine and Margaret Rutherford as Madame Arcarti

I'm not sure I have a favorite film yet. I am very picky about the films I like. It is especialy bad to watch a film with me that I have read the book of, as I provide a running commentary on "What Really Happened." It's terrible I know, and I have learned to take a film on it's own merits, and sulk in silence. Somewhat. I guess I would have to say Great Escape. Though I'm not sure that is my favorite film, I could watch it again. Maybe Twelve Angry Men.
