Just my two cents worth, I often skip this game for a while because it really isn't to challenging for me. A tweek would be fine with me.

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, HERE'S A SUGGESTION: for the next three rounds no words beginning with the three letters. EXAMPLE: for PAR, say, DISPARATE, SPAR, IMPARTIAL ... but not PARTY, PARMESAN.
After 3 rounds we could default back to the original rules. If people want to adopt the new rule or suggest alternative changes we could either have another three round trial or take an informal vote.
