You'll have to find an early-edition online text or buy the secondhand book and scan it yourself, but I have just noticed that the original 1946 novel of "Mister Roberts" ... though not the play or screen adaptations ... is now PD, as the author Thomas Heggen's DOD was 19 May 1949 at the early age of 30.

I don't see how this - published in 1946 - can be public domain in the US when next year only novels published in 1925 will become public domain... :?:

Are you mixing up US and Australian copyright again?
