I was so sad to miss this! :(
Usually that would have been a perfect time for me, but right at that time I had scheduled an important event I had to be at. Well, it was picking up a motorhome, new to us. We'll take a shakedown trip to a camp near Lake Winnipesaukee next week. Who knows, may Louisiana next year?

I couldn’t participate in any of the recent Zoom sessions, but was able to watch the Friday morning video.

I have a question for Michelle regarding Wiki links: I’ve recorded an article for the current nonfiction collection (87, I think). Librivox doesn’t have anything by this author (George Pattullo) He does have a Wikipedia page, with a link to one of his publications in Faded Pages. I do have a Wikipedia account and have added information to one Wikipedia article. I would like to include a link to the article I read by Mr. Pattullo. Is this possible? The article is from an issue of “The Saturday Evening Post” on HathiTrust. Because the article covers several pages not in sequential order. Example: P: 1-2, P 17-18 Is it even possible to link from the article to the Wikipedia link? For the convenience of reading I downloaded the pages and combined them into a PDF, then put it in my Google drive. However, I’m sure Wikipedia doesn’t consider my Google Drive an official source. :D So… do they use magazine articles that are out of copyright, but are not in basic sequence of Pages 1-4, for example?

Thanks! Hope I can make the next Zoom session!

Is there a video of the second Zoom session from this past weekend? Or was there a second session?

Mary, if I am understanding you correctly, you want to create a link from a Wikipedia Page about George Pattullo, to a Librivox author page on George Pattullo. Yes, that is possible if both those pages exist. Alas, I do not yet see a Librivox author page on George Pattullo. That will most likely be created when the current non-fiction collection catalogues.

If an author page is created on Mr. Pattullo when the non-fiction section catalogs, that will be good.

Interesting WWI related information on Mr. Pattullo. He was the first journalist to write about the war hero Sergeant Alvin York.

Thanks, Michelle. :D

ZOOMING IN ON MICROPHONES: Dec 10, 11 am Central Time usa.

-how to get the best results out of a microphone,
-general differences between USB and XLR mics,
-how the interface affects mic performance,
-when a condenser mic is/isn't the best choice for a home studio,
=how to take care of a microphone to protect it from premature aging,
-why washing your mic with soap and water is not a good idea.

December 10, 2021 there will be a zoom session for libriVoxers that will feature an expert on microphones explaining some of the basic things listed above. We all use a mic and should know more about the two main types and how they can help or not help our recordings. You DO know the two main types, right? The guest will be Ryan White Product Specialist with RØDE Microphones. He will just explain basic things and answer questions about microphones in general. So please join us, bring your microphone questions and problems and learn good stuff.
The session will be recorded of course. This is intended as an overview, not an in depth comparison of mics.

The link will be same as always, Phil's super secret private LibriVox meeting room deep inside the bat cave:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8840814632

I want to thank Grace Buchanan for suggesting this and doing the background work setting it up.
Ignatius, the Penguin of Happiness Image will be there to pass around the margaritas and complimentary fish

I hope you can, too, Michele. You always contribute great points.

Like Phil implied, remember to remove your mic from the dishwasher before it starts. We must find other ways to avoid recording trashy novels.
