The recording of our ZOOM meeting today, Oct 11, 2020 can be seen here https://youtu.be/5kSMEyqUQJc

I forgot to click the 'record' button until some time into the meeting so you missed my tutorial on using the C preview key and the Z zero crossing key in Audacity. tsk. But there was an enlightening stroll deep into the Internet Archive advance search function to find more about our recordings and also to possibly find more recording material. Plus, Todd explained the magical methods he uses to blend together all those individual recordings to make a smooth Dramatic Reading and or Play. Very impressive. I will stick with just playing parts! :D

ZOOM Meeting this coming Sunday!! Melody Jaros, the rep from the 'LibriVox app' will join us 10/18 Sunday at 12 Noon Central time when we will talk about ways that people (you and I) listen to LV audiobooks. They are many and varied but the app seems to be very popular and it works well. She has agreed to answer questions about it. I have no idea how long this segment will be but will try to keep it to 30 minutes. The second half of the meeting will discuss the role of the hard working Book Coordinator. Some veteran BCs will share their joys and sorrows of shepherding an LV audiobook from start to finish. At any one time we have about 300 projects active and every one needs a BC. Petunia is excited Image

Here it is! You too can watch the dynamic video of our LibriVox Zoom meeting for October 18, 2020. Tons of excitement!
1) How do people listen to our audiobooks? apparently one app, the LibriVox app is the favorite one. Thanks to MIchele Fry and Melody Jaros for sharing.
2) Being a BC; Todd and Tricia were kind enough to let us in on the ups, downs and sideways of being a Book Coordinator for LibriVox. The BC is the backbone of LV. And the hipbone and the muscles too.

Phil announced that next week at 12 NOON October 25th there will be the last weekly zoom meeting hosted by him. At least for awhile. the topics next week will be more Book Coordinator experiences and discussion of ideas of ways in which Zoom might be used to help LibriVox best; what possible things might it help. Perhaps a monthly meeting might be best and others are welcome to host. We have a dazzling array of talent and brains here, let's put it use. All discussion will be in the Zoom Discussion thread and anyone who wishes to have 5 or 10 minutes just needs to ask . Image

Just a reminder that tomorrow at 12 Noon, Central time, the excitement returns with another ZOOM LibriVox meeting.
It has been a whole week since we last met. Same invite link as the last times
Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8840814632

Our main discussion will be about where Zoom will go from here for us. I will be firm but fair in hearing opinions. I will also put the written opinions that people have posted, in chat. Unless I forget.

1) Format - weekly? monthly? every 2 weeks? daily? As the spirit moves someone to host one?
2) Time - when is the best time? Should it be rotated early and late?
3) Host - who will be our host? a group? rotating hosts? One supreme host for the ages? Whoever volunteers?
4) What will be the agenda - just chit chat about things LibriVoxy? Gripes? Tutorials to teach us stuff?
5) How will it be announced so we know when it will be?
6) How can Zoom help LibriVox? what are the ways you feel it might be useful to our mission? Get creative folks!

Oh and so much more. Refreshments will be served; (jambalaya, crawfish pie and file gumbo) Smiles are strongly encouraged but not required. Grumps, ner-do-wells and people with no cameras are welcome too.

One-Act Play Recording, via Zoom!
Wednesday, November 18, 10:00 am Eastern Time, 3:00 pm UK.

We will be recording "Retained for the Defence" by John Oxenford (PD for everyone).

Script is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTv5SjyAkYHDwojSOwkv-uynzWB_nSH9y1BeOvuQMaocF1Q9Ton-GzgSLqWlfLtc1GmjbnqLvriR03O/pub

We'll meet by Zoom and record the lines together, still using our own recording software (Audacity for most of us). Please be prepared with headphones or ear buds, so that the sound from the meeting doesn't bleed into your recording. :)

I may have a line on a reader for one of the gentlemen's roles, but I still need one more guy, and a lady to read Agatha. PM me if you'd like to claim Agatha, Thwaites, or Whitewash.

Spectators allowed, but please turn off your mics and video.

I'll try to be there a bit early - 15 minutes or so - to help arrange mic and whatever other setups you may need help with (the blind leading the blind).

All LibriVox people are invited to the next exciting ZOOM meeting that will be SUNDAY DECEMBER 6 AT 9 PM IN THE EVENING Central time USA. Hot ziggedy dog it will be fun. What is the agenda you ask? a charmingly diverse one to be sure. I will start by talking about editing, specifically those AutoHotKeys that can speed up your editing soooooo much by programming sequences of actions with a single little keystroke. (If encouraged I may touch on programming your Audacity keys) Next we will talk about Hathi Trust if I can find someone who knows how to use the things there. After that I would like to discuss the things people ask about in Need Help forum. There will be absolutely NO tolerance for anyone talking about the state of the world, state or local economy. Pets are encouraged to participate. We will talk a bit about how our beloved LibriVox is hitting new records almost every month!! Oh, and I would love a discussion of 1 minute test evaluations.

More to come as I gather information and more people . Note the time change to 9 PM at night central time
This meeting will be recorded and the video posted so clothing is strongly suggested.
